Newspoll: 53-47 to Labor

Slight improvement in the Coalition’s voting intention numbers, but Scott Morrison’s personal ratings continue to track down.

The Australian reports the latest Newspoll has Labor leading 53-47, in from 54-46 three weeks ago. The primary votes are Coalition 37% (up two), Labor 38% (steady), Greens 11% (steady) and One Nation 2% (down one). Scott Morrison is down two on approval to 44% and up two on disapproval to 52%, while Anthony Albanese is respectively steady on 37% and up two to 48%. Morrison’s lead as preferred prime minister has been cut from 48-34 to 46-38. The poll was conducted Wednesday to Saturday from a sample of 1524.

(Terrific ACO coming up this Wednesday)

Thanks for prodding me. 7 pm . I can get a train that will get me back to Tuggerah about 11.30. Perhaps I’ll see you there.

Sure thing. Two big blokes, 6′ , 6’2, heavy side of the weight spectrum might cover it. We sit down the front Level 1, so entry from door 1. Could loiter near the box office at 6.45 ish. I’ll send Mr Bowe a request to swap emails if you like.

I have requested William to provide my email. I will be up in the gods.

Will be picking up my ticket from the box office when I get there. Cheers.

  2. The US is behind in hypersonic technology. It is running behind in AI capacity.

After 4 years of Donald Trump in charge, it’s no surprise. President Biden is seeking to rectify that problem.

  3. OMG! There’s a ‘Peter Dutton Support Group’ on facebook. I despair of Australians sometimes. Especially my parents who sent it to me!

I tell you, the enthusiasm of the Right is non pareil in Australia. Labor need a good theme for people to get excited about too!

  4. What exactly was the Nats promised in the negotiations which were supposed to end in their support for Net Zero/2050? There was a lot of posturing and publicity while they danced about for a couple of weeks to “resolve” the problem.

Now Barnaby says the Nats didn’t sign anything in Glasgow, so they aren’t bound by it, and Canavan says they are now free to encourage more coalmines.

What the hell is going on?

  5. And, without going to the body of the Borewar contribution, I note the final paragraph

“better than 50/50 chance that both sides will wipe each other out completely”

I am reminded of first visiting Hong Kong and the New Territories some 50 years ago

You looked out over fields to where Communist China was

On those fields there were people, in subsistence settings going about their lives

The world consists of people, all going about their lives in an increasingly interconnected world

And the contribution is sides wiping each other out

    So who are sides?

So who exactly is going to be “wiped out”?

In the World of today we have organisations starting from the United Nations, treaties and agreements

We have G7 with other Nations on the sidelines – and the G20

We have over 130 Nations being the WHA under the auspices of the WHO

And some talk to sides wiping each other out

No one wins a nuclear war. It’s MAD!

You needed to tell Rumsfeld that. Pulling out of the treaties and the missiles they could station in Europe meant that that it was becoming a possibility the yanks could stop Russian retaliatory strikes. In other words the end of MAD. The Russian hypersonic stuff was a direct response, such weapons meant that the US anti ballistic missiles would be unable to stop a retaliatory strike. MAD return

  9. lizzie,

The Nationals “negotiations” on Net-Zero were always a wedge.

The resistance from the Coal Nationals was dog whistling to the pro-coal, anti-net zero voters – who felt betrayed by Murdoch and Liberals – that the Nationals still had their back. Nationals weren’t going to hand over their seats to ON/UAP – both anti-net zero, pro-coal – without a fight.

Liberals can now campaign on their Plan in cities, while Nationals campaign on more coal, more mines, more jobs in the regions.

  10. I suppose others have already pointed out the irony that the Coalition (who used to oppose a carbon tax) are now supporting it, while Labor (who used to support a carbon tax) are now opposing it?

    https://www.afr.com/politics/federal/morrison-s-dirty-secret-he-s-matched-labor-s-2013-carbon-price-20211115-p5990m

I expect Labor will eventually #MehToo this policy once more – after all, a carbon tax was always the best (and possibly only) way to achieve genuine emissions reductions – but what a ridiculous shambles both the Coalition and the Labor policy flip-flops have become. The only winners of this stupid game are the fossil fuel industries, and the losers are everyone else.

Vote for policies, not parties. Vote Independent.

No, not really, the changes are pretty much fluff. I don’t seem to recall many chants from the crowd of “Waddawewant ? Reduced timeframes for the release of reasons for pandemic decisions. Wennawewannit ! Now !”
    From link

Fines for breaching public health orders will be halved and the timeframe to release the reasons behind pandemic decisions slashed

You can have a terminal illness & not qualify for DSP. You get forced to provide medical certificates to avoid participation in dole programs. After 13 weeks the terminal condition becomes a pre-existing condition. They reject the Dr’s certificate. Payment stopped or participate.

  17. If anyone thinks that these protestors are worried about the contents of a pandemic bill, I have a bridge to sell.

I could guarantee the Americans are already working on Hypersonic Missiles as well.

They are and the most recent test was a bigly FAIL. they will however get there. It is just the Russians have a big head start.. You need to ask why the Russians went in so hard for hypersonics. For that you can thank Dubya but also Obama and Trump. The US unilaterally pulled out of several nuclear missile treaties/agreements with Russia. There were nutters like Rumsfeld talking about nuclear first strikes and the possibility of “winning” a nuclear war.

Rumsfeld talking about nuclear first strikes and the possibility of “winning” a nuclear war.

I read in one of Mathew Reilly books ( I do not remember which book), where hero Jack West Jr went to a South American jungle, there is a paragraph in which he describes how it is motto of American military not to allow other world militaries to dominate. If it comes to that they will rather destroy those countries and get destroyed in the process or something to that effect.

  25. Simon katich

I have said it many times over the duration of this pandemic.
Here in Victoria, the worst aspect of it all has been the Victorian liberals with the help of their federal counterparts and the media.

It has been relentless and they have caused untold damage to the psyche of us all.

I have had a gutful, and this latest incarnation of the pandemic bill bullshit has been disgusting.

    It needs to stop.

  26. I just decapitated an Aloe Vera plant with my Whippersnipper! 😯

Anyone in the market for some fresh Aloe Vera, going cheap? 😀

  27. Vic,
Matthew Guy will do nothing. Just like the Republicans in the US who encourage gullible fools over there to do similar. Or their own Members of Congress who doctor anime videos to show them murdering AOC and stabbing President Biden.

They are no better than Neanderthals. In fact, Neanderthals probably behaved better.

BS. Negotiations were undertaken with Samantha Ratnam, Fiona Patten and Andy Meddick, in an intelligent, adult manner. Something that’s a foreign concept to Liberals I know. 😐

And, noted, that you singled out Andy Meddick, the guy who has been targeted by rabid Liberal and SAD and Murdoch tabloid followers. NOT.

The disdain I have for the current Victorian liberal party has nothing to do with preferring team labor. They are that bad.

This past few weeks has gone to a whole new level of disgusting.

  33. This conduct by the likes of the sky news crowd, Neil Mitchell and the vic liberals is not business as usual,

My youngest has to be in the city today, and she doesn’t feel safe to go because of these neo nazi nut jobs.

Steve Bannon and co have infiltrated Australians and their politics.

    Make no mistake.

  34. At 797 Vic cases are the lowest in around 7 weeks. Reff also down to 0.84/0.9 depending on whether you’re a supporter of the Billington Party or the Estermann Party. Given the few days’ decline in a row maybe we’ll dip below 500 before the 90/90 opening up – which will actually be more restrictive for general retail as vax certificates will need to be displayed. Pleasingly NSW Reff also down to 0.9/0.94. NZ Reff also easing down to 1.04 – hopefully below 1 before much longer

I hope she’ll find it’s Ok Victoria. I had to go in last week for the first time in a while. The only evidence of the Liberal party inspired nut jobs i saw was in Spring St on the steps of Parliament when I happened to walk by – and I could have easily taken a different route. In any case there was a gaggle of about 20 on the steps with a loud hailer (with about the same number of constabulary). looking and sounding pretty irrelevant. The rest of the city was quietish but starting to hum again.

She needs to be near Parliament House today and I told her to avoid getting too close.

In any event, we need to understand that the months of advertising by Craig Kelly on behalf of Clive and UAP is all part of the scheme to get preferences for the fiberals.

What is team Labor doing about this crap to counter act it.
