BludgerTrack: 52.7-47.3 to Labor

Following Newspoll, the latest poll aggregate reading washes away the Coalition’s gains from the earlier polling since New Year.

This week’s Newspoll result had added 0.3% to Labor’s two-party reading on the BludgerTrack poll aggregate, and added one seat to their national on the seat projection, the gain being in South Australia. The biggest change on the primary vote is an improvement for One Nation, who reversed a weakening trend over the past few months with the latest poll. Newspoll also recorded a weakening in Malcolm Turnbull’s personal ratings, but evidently the aggregate had this priced in already, as the trend results show little changed on last week. As always, full results on the sidebar.

Joyce will still have his loyalists in the Nats and they will assure that the pork is still freely available in NE.

  2. The Guardian:

If you’re wondering who the Weatherboard Nine are, we have the answer.

Viewers at home may have been wondering at a bizarre phrase the outgoing Deputy PM seemed to throw out there at the end of his press conference. When asked what his legacy was, Joyce seemed to say: “I fought for the person in the weatherboard nine.

We can calm the speculation. He was saying “weatherboard and iron” .
Here’s the proof. In this SMH interview from October 28 last year, Joyce was directly quoted as saying he wanted to “to give greater economic and personal advancement to the people in the weatherboard and iron in the regional towns.”

He continued: “I didn’t give a toss for where power comes from, but one of the greatest afflictions for people in the weatherboard and iron is they can’t afford power”.

  3. SamDickfos: David Speers reporting some Nationals figures are blaming National Party president Larry Anthony for leaking the sexual harassment allegation against Joyce to the media.

  4. In effect, Barnaby as blaming the media for his problems. He didn’t claim to be ‘pure’, but had to stand down to give ‘clear air’.

    A very garbled ‘speech’, IMO.

10 candidates on the ballot paper with Kearney @ #2 followed by Bhathal @ #3.

Labor with the donkey vote. Every bit helps.

    Yes, I heard that.
Who is number 1? Not that it matters much.

The candidate nominations, in ballot paper order, that were officially declared at 12 noon today are:

GENTLE, Yvonne – Rise Up Australia Party
KEARNEY, Ged – Australian Labor Party
    BHATHAL, Alex – The Greens
BAILEY, Kevin Christopher – Australian Conservatives
BURNS, Tegan – Australian People’s Party
ROBINSON, Debbie – Australian Liberty Alliance
    VAN LIESHOUT, Teresa – Independent
    WHITEHEAD, Adrian
    MCDONALD, Mark – Sustainable Australia
SMITH, Miranda Joyce – Animal Justice Party

  6. Windsor had been subjected to some outrageous smearing by Joyce. I doubt Windsor would say anything even remotely over the top about Joyce in the circumstances.

A lot of the stuff Windsor has been intimating about Joyce has come true. Pretty brave bet to assume some more of it won’t also be proven.

There’s a grub in all this. He just resigned as DPM.

Goes to fancy private school, was an accountant, tries to pass himself off as a Aussie battler. #barnabybullshit

  8. TonyHWindsor: To all those women who were prepared to share their experiences thank you .. You have helped young women of the future . To those who deliberately tried to protect this grub , many within the media shame on you .

  9. Apart from the weatherboard 9 I thought the funniest thing Barnaby said in his presser was that his unborn baby needed a circuit breaker from all the media stories.

So a RWNJ first. They will rejoice in claiming the donkey vote as showing a great surge toward their cause.

Turnbull comes out of this as strong and right.

Now we can resume normal programming and enjoy the upcoming defeat of Labor in Batman.

Can you and all of those of your ilk offer one succinct, cognitive argument about what this abortion of a government have actually done for this country except dribble what you’ve been told about what Labor did? People like you are the reason this country has been turned into a cesspit. And for your further information this is the first and last and last time I’ll ever reply to the bullshit that dribbles out of your mouth onto your keyboard unless you come up with a few points to my first sentence leaving out whatever happened prior to 2013.

  12. We all have our setbacks Comrade. I just have no time for people who kick someone while they are down using unproven smears to do it. I guess we will have to wait and see if those many women Windsor referred to actually exist.

  13. Joyce has slammed the media’s intrusion into the life of his partner, Vikki Campion. He said he thought Australia was better than that. Not one of the “litany” of allegations against him have been proved, he said.

Um, how about the allegation of Adultery, Barnaby? I mean, the evidence is plain for all to see.

  14. The Lib/Nats are always trying to pass themselves off as the great supporters of the “aussie battler” and “mum & dad investors”. Referring to the “weatherboard & tin line” is just another cliche example of them sucking up to the less advantaged whilst they cause division in the community by railing against the intellectuals, scientists, environmentalists the so called smashed avocado set and birkenstock brigade.

We know what the real agenda is and Barnaby is the pin up boy for most of their really bad policies.

  15. Barnaby must really be regretting not resigning last week. These latest revelations may well have never come out had he already been on the backbench.

The last few weeks strike me as a textbook example of how to make an already damaging scandal far worse than it needs to be.

Perennial election candidate. Contested the Canning byelection in 2015.

    Never heard of her before.
There used to be a ‘compulsive candidate’ who lived in my area years ago.
He was a member of my ALP branch for a short while.
He ran in elections at all levels from Local Govt to Senate.

  17. YaThinkN: Oh FFS! Michael McCormack
Why are media talking him up?

He is a raging fracking homophobe AND the only test he’s ever had in his political career is #CensusFail where not only was he clueless, it was an epic disaster and he lied through his butt about the failure? twitter.com/abcnews/status…

Ratsak is spot on. The grub in all this is Barnaby.
The fact that you don’t see that, but somehow think that Windsor is the grub in this whole saga, is tres weird

He is merely ‘on the way down’. Some way to go yet.
Apparently his own colleagues give enough credence to the allegations to stop supporting him.
    Labor is saying nothing.

  20. Barnaby is a classic case of those on the conservative side of politics. Always telling people to do as they say, but not as they do.

I am hoping that Labor do not let him or Turnbull off the hook.

    Not a crime.
OTOH, nothing is proven until it has been through a court. I look forward to that.

So good to have ESJ blocked…

If you don’t take her seriously, ESJ is quite funny at times.

I agree, Eddie used to be amusing, back in the day, but this reincarnation and the concerted attacks/slurs directed towards C@t, insinuating that she has a drinking problem, something to do with sherry(?) and that she has been promised a seat in the NSW Upper House for what??, is too much. Put up or shut up, Eddie.

And to a lesser extent, Eddie appears to have a problem with sprocket. Same thing, put up or shut up, Eddie.

  23. McCormack would have a massive target on him if he was elevated. Trumble should come out and tell the Nats not to elect Chester or Gillespie whatever they do if he wants to not have another embarrassment tied to him.

  24. They are both grubs Victoria if they continually make unproven smears against each other. However it was the smearing by Windsor that Guytaur posted that I responded to.
