Ipsos: 55-45 to Labor

The Coalition crashes in the latest entry of a poll series that is coming in unusually high for the Greens.

The Fairfax papers have an Ipsos poll that belies last week’s improvement for the Coalition in Newspoll. The report identifies Labor’s two-party lead as 55-45, but it features a chart showing Labor to be leading 56-44 “by overall preference flows”, whatever that means. The primary votes are Labor 34%, Coalition 33% and Greens 16% – a high Greens apparently having become a feature of this series. Malcolm Turnbull is down five on approval since November to 40% and up three on disapproval to 48%, while Bill Shorten is down two to 35% and steady at 53%, while Turnbull’s lead as preferred prime minister is down from 51-30 to 45-33. The poll was conducted Wednesday to Saturday from a sample of 1400.

Bandt pushing politically ideological arguments at a time when people are in danger and under stress just makes him look like an arsehole. That is unlikely to give him credibility or influence in the long run.

It may be political but it is also a statement of fact.
I remember during the Vietnam War it was considered unpatriotic and disrespectful to the troops to criticise the war.
    Same logic. Same bullshit.

  2. Another user (who is about to pay her subscription again) that can only see a couple of comments. Have rebooted the laptop hoping that would make a difference – it did a little as I can now see about 6 comments

  3. If the script kiddies are going to do this shit – like install a different blog pagination system – then they should do it in the early hours of the morning and/or test on a development copy of the site.

  4. We use WordPress for our website at our library but not for much longer.
So much time wasted in the last few days trying to update our website etc etc.
At least Crikey is not alone (assuming it is a WP problem and not a server issue, etc.)

  5. Yeah, this doesn’t work. Do we have to spend our lives pressing “load more” for every few comments?

I have never seen a decent blog that doesn’t date/time stamp the posts. It is impossible to follow.

    UNDO.

  6. The improvements suck
I don’t want to view 5 comments at a time when there 600+ comments with no navigation except load more

Not good enough – subscription expires in a fortnight

    Accenture yeah yeah yeah

  8. Decent blogs allow you to automatically create a link back to the post that you’re replying to. Not just have to manually create a reference (or a post number). This is shit.

When are the Crikey coders going to be taken out and shot.. several times?

Is this a Crikey or WordPress issue?

Seeing reply buttons that do nothing. If they worked not a bad addition to the site.

That might be a good way to handle various disputes that can get quite tedious, but I kind of like the linear format of PB.

  11. Comments are visible (6 at a time) using my (Android) phone, with Chrome. On desktop Chrome, Firefox, and Edge, no comments at all.

Will someone please tell the developers to stop testing on mobile first/exclusively? And also explain to them what a QA server is, and why they should be using one?

  12. What the devil is going on here??? No times, no numbers…………….Who has got time/wants to load up 5 at a time? Why has this site been stuffed around so much?
I am picking this up at 8.40 am approx WA time………..

  13. I was hoping KB wanted to continue poll talk. SAD. Guess I’ll go and do some work and see if this gets fixed later.

Whoever is responsible should be forced to live with a Trump voter for a week!

  14. And to get to look at earlier threads, have to go out of this and go into Sections to get these. Out of here until someone gets to understand that this format is unsatisfactory from my point of view.

  15. William, can you possibly get through to the incompetents who are responsible for Crikey’s web interface that it is absolutely essential to TEST any ‘updates’ before bringing them online.

In this case they have rendered the PollBludger blog unusable. For what?? So that they can prove that they know nothing about the nature of the blog, the way it is used, the nature of the interplay on here. I am quite sure that another host would love to have PollBludger. The Guardian, I bet, would love you to go the way of FDOTM.

  16. Emailed the following to Crikey after nobody is answering the phone:

    Hi Crikey,

I’ve had more problems accessing the Poll Bludger blog this morning.

The page numbers have disappeared, only a small number of comments appear on the page, time stamps have disappeared and hitting “load more” only loads a small number of comments (I’m sure there are other problems):

Problem on Poll Bludger have been ongoing, and you’ve had heaps of time to make improvements. Instead of improvements things have got worse and we still need to use CCCP on Tampermonkey to get decent functionality out of the blog. Whenever you make changes, normally you do them in test environment. Obviously whoever the manager responsible for this process is too incompetent to know this, or too lazy to do it.

Thing were going OK before the recent upgrade to the site. Whoever the manager of this process is needs to be fired – not the person/people doing the changes, but the manager responsible for them. Whoever the manager is is grossly incompetent. They need to be fired and replaced with someone who knows what they are doing.

  17. Question

Is this a Crikey or WordPress issue?

It has nothing whatsoever to do with WordPress.
Someone is tinkering with the code.

  18. confessions
Yep you can see comments on mobile device but not laptop

I see about 6 comments on my desktop (win 10/chrome), and then a “load more” button will load another 6.

  19. Look at the bright side.
Even though the Reply button doesn’t work, it is very large and easily seen by geriatrics.
