Courtesy of The Australian, Newspoll has the Coalition leading 51-49 on two-party preferred, unchanged on three weeks ago, from primary votes of Coalition 43% (steady), Labor 36% (up one), Greens 11% (steady) and One Nation 2% (down one, and their weakest result since at least the 2019 election). Scott Morrison is up two on approval to 66% and down two on disapproval to 30%, while Anthony Albanese is up one to 44% and up two to 41%, with Morrison’s lead as preferred prime minister out from 58-29 to 60-28. The poll was conducted Wednesday to Saturday from a sample of 1511.
Newspoll: 51-49 to Coalition
Further improvement in Scott Morrison’s personal ratings, but otherwise little change in the latest Newspoll.
WA open to NSW and Vic in a week. Australia nearly back to normal.
Just give the Croweaters a few more days and we’re all good.

Who the fuck cares what Morrison’s motivations are!?! Don’t try and triangulate this issue through an Anti Morrison political lens. That also plays into the hands of the Chinese to put the focus on HIM and not THEM.

I hope they suffer a very painful erosion of their fortunes. Most especially Xi’s quisling, Andrew Forrest.

“Drawing a very long bow there. The Middle Kingdom is from 3,000 years ago. Every large kingdom back then would have thought of themselves the ‘centre’ or “middle” of the world.:
No argument there. Nonetheless, the name of modern China in Mandarin is ‘Zhong-guo’, meaning literally Middle Kingdom (or Country).

Q; Who the fuck cares what Morrison’s motivations are…… anyone who wants our international relations to be conducted in an effective and responsible manner. If they are being conducted for base political purposes, and not for the interests of our nation that is vitally important.
It is a difficult situation which the corrupt foreign owned and controlled Morrison and his propaganda media units cronies has put Australia in.
The libs/nats propaganda media units are falsely claiming Australia has been transparent on the war crimes , and are holding these people to account.
It is not helping, because nothing happen to those who sent Australia to the illegal war in Iraq on a lie , Howard should have been sacked with his libs/nat government and punish for lying and sending Australians to a country where they had no right to be.

I don’t think anyone is saying that, the difference comes down to the Government sanctioning of it.
In the case of Afghanistan, it’s clear that, while the Government tried to sweep it under the carpet, they were certainly not directing the actions.

Did I say Australia and China are the same? All I said was Australia lost the right to lecture anyone because it lost the respect of the world community a while ago (Aboriginals, refugees, Climate). I would have thought the moral views of New Zealand would carry far more weight than Australia’s on the world stage.

So, it wasn’t Government directed, it was just some Australian Defense Forces in a foreign country deciding to arbitrarily kill people” ….. this is convenient spin and it would not been seen like that to foreign countries.

Yes, we do.
And those responsible are being dealt with.
An important question is how far up the knowledge of those acts went!

So we just STFU then. Pro-democracy activists in Hong Kong get thrown in jail, but Australia should remain silent because we’re not perfect either?

Yes.
“You’re a hypocrite so shut up” or wtte is the line that the Coalition and their backers in the media routinely trot out to silence or dismiss Labor’s criticism of the government.
By the way, it works, and so we end up with a government that is never held to account.
We seem to live in a world which holds to a sytem of mutual destruction of accountability and avoidance of change rather than one where we mutually hold each other to account and work on fixing our poor behaviours.
Australia’s best response would be to acknowledge our failures, work on addressing and provide redress for them, and then say “we’re doing our bit, how about you?”

Apparently Joel Fitzgibbon argued in caucus that Labor’s default should be to oppose crossbench bills – would have thought seriously considering them on their merits was a more reasonable approach, but there you go… Australian politics live
This bloke rivals the worst sitting MP’s ever to con their way into the parliament.
He is proposing to use the Bob Brown/Tony Abbott method….give the other guys nothing at all for as long as possible. The politics of intransigent refusal….works well for the Liberals and their shotguns.
Morrison has aroused cross-party Sinophobia. What a fuck up. He should be sacked. Where is Andrew Robb when he’s most needed?
Morrison sacked.? He shouldnt have been hired in the first place.
Or if that’s too piecemeal, then press for everyone to work for change collectively in an international forum.
Andrew Robb’s office is busy at the moment.
If you don’t travel much and rarely go to big crowded events things have been near normal in NSW for a while.
“So we just STFU then. Pro-democracy activists in Hong Kong get thrown in jail, but Australia should remain silent because we’re not perfect either?”
Many worthy countries condemned China for Hong Kong and the persecution of the Muslim minority in China. However, Australia was the only country to take Trump’s brain farts on China seriously, and carry them out. That’s the difference.
Kakuru @ #667 Tuesday, December 1st, 2020 – 11:18 am
Well, we STFU insofar as loudly demanding apologies for pictures posted on Twitter is concerned. And make sure we actually address the issues alluded to by those pictures (and our inhumane treatment of asylum seekers, which seems to have disappeared as a thing lately).
Beyond that, I don’t think anyone is saying we can’t criticize China for their legitimate wrongs.

MacMahon has wasted no time at all getting into her new job – her office is already up and running! Such a great result for the good people of South Brisbane.
There are many tens of thousands of workers in WA who rely, one way or another, on unimpeded trade with China. The State budget is substantially reliant on mineral royalties related to the China trade, as indeed is the Federal budget.
This has been put in jeopardy by Morrison and his Liberal predecessors, who have shown nothing but indifference to the economic and other welfare interests of this State. To gratify partisan prejudice, Morrison has put the country’s economic interests in peril. He is an absolute idiot. He has aroused the very worst in the Australian psyche – the xenophobes and the jingoists – without any apparent forethought whatsoever.
Not so deep down, the Liberal Party has always been suspicious of China. They see the betterment of relations with China as a Labor project. It’s a project they’ve been prepared to sacrifice to their own vanity. This is a fuck up. Morrison should go. He has placed us in a completely untenable position.

Distraction for Lizzie.
My wife would get lost in audio books but as a momentary series of thoughts please consider the following.
In the first blink after the “Big Bang” annihilation of particle and anti-particle occurred leaving the Universe as observed today.
Logically ( ❓ ) one could assume that, considering the multiverse theory there will be Universes where the balance tipped in favour of ant- particles.
What would happen if two universes such as described (particle/anti-particle) collided?
In particular Heaven in this best of all possible Universes is located
Across the bridge.
Over the rainbow.
The other side of the wall.
The commonly held understanding that within heaven is an area bounded (girt if you will) by a high wall. This is said to be where Roman Catholics reside serene in the certain sure knowledge that this little corner is all there is of Heaven.
One could assume that in an anti-particle universe Heaven wall enclosed area would be anti-Catholics.
What, I now ask you, would happen when, during the merging of the annihilating merging of Universes, the two Heavens met 😕
Possibility – a small remnant of either particle Catholic or ant-particle Catholic would survive becoming, maybe, a forever Phantom Zone.
Re reading – I note no area for possible confusion.
In the meanwhile – think green or blue and everlasting freedom from malicious bullshit.
Peace be with you. 😇
P.S. If the above seem in any way a reasonable exposition – please seek assistance – I gratefully acknowledge the posting re the following by other Poll Bludgers –

One of the underlying ideas that inform the choice of a PM is that of “safe hands”….that the occupant should be fundamentally reliable and sound in their judgments. Abbott failed because he demonstrably unsafe, even in the eyes of his own party. Morrison has shown several times now that he’s also “unsafe”.
His judgements in relation to the bush fires, covid, quarantine and China all produce examples of his basic incompetence. If his stupidity registers with the coal provinces in Queensland and the export facing resources outfits in WA, then he will be suitably rewarded for his idiocy.

Thats my feeling too. I heard there was 500,000 jobs reliant on China in this country. I think Morrison just shouldnt engage with China on this level. Just ignore them.He just cant help himself trying to be a big man though.
Nice promos of Amy MacMahon, hands on hips. But why is this junk mail on PB?
Trust dickhead Hanson to pour more fuel on the fire.
The next thing she will be doing is Chinese impressions in the Senate.
It would be a great joy if the coal-minded voters of Queensland were to turn against Morrison because he failed to manage his own conduct in relation to China.
Puppy news.

I think Vietnam will deal with it quickly.
The impending relaxation of travel to WA is very welcome in my family. Four members of the extended family from both sides of the country and in between are gravely ill. A fifth also died just a couple of months ago. The prospects of our loved ones are really very poor and this has been made much more difficult for us all by the obstacles to travel. MacGowan was right to close the borders. He’s right to open them up again. It can’t come too soon for us.
