BludgerTrack: 52.5-47.5 to Labor

Not much doing in the one published poll to emerge since the start of the election campaign, reflected in a stable reading from the BludgerTrack poll aggregate.

Despite the onset of the election campaign, there is only one new data point to add to BludgerTrack this week, which is a status quo 52-48 result from Newspoll that has duly little effect on the national vote trends. Such movement as there is is away from One Nation and towards the Coalition on the primary vote, with next to no impact on two-party preferred or the seat projection, where the Coalition makes a single gain in Victoria.

Since there is no new state-level data this week, the breakdowns continue to record an unnatural looking lurch to the Coalition in New South Wales, which I would want to see corroborated by more data. The leadership trends are interesting in that an upswing in Scott Morrison’s net approval has returned him, just barely, to net positive territory. The effect on preferred prime minister is more modest, but there appears to be a slight trend in his favour there too.

However, the biggest news in BludgerTrack this week as far as I’m concerned is that a helpful reader has told me how to fix the bug that was preventing the state breakdown tabs from working much of the time. If this was causing you grief before, there is a very good chance it will not be doing so if you try again now, which you can do through the link below.

  1. “So, what do we have?”

Can someone please help poor Boerwar out from under here? He appears to be permanently living under it.

  2. Thanks for trying KayJay.

I get a less pixelated image on my tablet surprisingly.

    It appears to say;

Authorised by Chris (someone) Liberal Party of Australia NSW division …
    🙂

  3. “She was deliberately winding him up. And did it very well indeed. ”

She sure did lol. He totally lost the plot.

  4. Re Tom @1:42
The authorisation is on the bottom of the left door (white on black). It says Chris (illegible), Liberal Party of Australia, illegible East Sydney 2011 address.

  5. EGW

Yes. Maybe we would have seen the Gillard Government Climate Legislation back when it was the Rudd Government.

However that’s in the realm of what if and not reality unfortunately

It is the purpose of science to imprison truth; of art is to liberate it.

No. Disingenuous. Science says nothing about truth. Truth is a moral dimension. ‘

You are going to have to persuade me that science is amoral.

  7. This whole Labor v Greens debate is happening in some parallel universe where the two parties aren’t broadly aligned on numerous issues and the Greens didn’t routinely vote with Labor last time they were in power.

Anyone who thinks the Greens are pro Lib is a moron. Anyone who thinks Labor is as bad as the Libs on social and environmental issues is a moron.

Typical Greens. They carry on about holding somebody to account as an acceptable alternative to holding government.
But in the last 6 years of Liberal Government the Greens totally failed to hold the Liberals to account.
And Firefox, in order to validate a personal attack, desecrates a collection of Indigenous sacred sites (of which there are several in this image) in order to make a Greens point.

Holding to account? We can be 100% certain the Greens did not check with the Indigenous owners to see whether the person who captured that image did so with a permit.

Nor did the Greens bother holding themselves to account for stealing Indigenous IP.

    The Greens ‘holding to account’?

    You get the drift.

  9. In fact, the address is likely

    “Level 12, 100 William St,
    East Sydney NSW 2011”

NSW Liberal Party headquarters on the edge of Sydney’s red light district. This Chris person no doubt some minor functionary.

    So just generic Liberal Party.

EDIT: and there it is in Late Riser’s post @2:39.

  10. LR

There is an assumption that Warringah voters are scared of Mr Shorten as Prime Minister

They could be right but the problem for them is a poster going up saying vote for Morrison get Abbott could be more scary.

  11. As you can see from the contrast in BW’s post and mine how stupid Presidential campaigns in the Westminster system are.

Sorry, I think that misses my point. Science is descriptive. But if you insist on ascribing truth as a physical thing, then I prefer “Science uncovers truth; but art gives it meaning.” Poetry has looser lips.

Yawn. You repeat the same garbage over and over. You’re almost as bad as Wayne.

Yes, you are living under a massive rock.

  14. BW: Sure. And perhaps only art can do this. But I fear we are still at cross purposes and I am not up to the task of explaining myself. Science is about understanding how things work. A “true” description is a value judgement of the description. It isn’t the description.

  15. Oh dear.

Father Bower is campaigning on Good Friday. Calling it the most political of days when we should have compassion for refugees.
He must not have got the Major parties memo.

  16. “This isn’t an image of the store front door, but taken from Abbott’s facebook page.”

Steggall should just fire back with “vote Abbott, get Turnbull and Morrison.” That will really get under Phoney Tony’s skin lol

Art can be a glimpse of what seems universal from inside our individual skulls: science can be a glimpse of what seems universal to many viewpoints. Art needs at least one conscious human to reflect on it and can be reduced to opinion, science does not.

  19. Guytaur I don’t trust individual seat polling. Follow the money.

It’s getting a bit tighter in Dickson as well. 🙁

  20. DWH

Of course we don’t have to wait. We can compare betting markets and individual seat polling from past elections with over a month to go.

Personally I view them as rough guides. Better in your favour than against.

I suspect though the betting markets have more scope for unreliability. Imagine Clive Palmer placing bets just to make himself look more credible for his Senate run.

  21. Many Greeen voters know that the best way to highlight the importance of the environment is via the Greens. They also know that the only party that can get things done is Labor so that is the next preferance.
Labor can take on board that about 10% of the population want to emphasize how strongly they feel about our waterways, the reef, global warming etc and support and trust them to do the right thing for the environment.
The Greens ever siding with the L/NP in these matters will only result in loss of support by even its most loyal supporters. The poor L/NP record speaks for itself.
The Greens do not have to grow their support base by attacking Labor. Many, in the under 25 age group particularly, will join them as the increasing evidence of global warming events continues.

  22. Quickly checking in I find that the Labor-Greens war is still raging amongst the usual protagonists. If that’s the worst thing Labor has to worry about, I reckon everything in the election campaign must be pretty hunky-dory for the ALP.

  23. “Guytaur I don’t trust individual seat polling. Follow the money.

How anyone could vote for Dutton I don’t know. I will always call Labor out when I feel I need to, but I just want to put on the record again that I really hope France gives him an absolute hiding on election night. I’ll be cheering for her. It’s not a seat the Greens can win but I know that Benedict Coyne (the Greens candidate) has been campaigning for many months to try and get rid of Dutton. It is definitely one of those seats like Warringah where do just need to put everything else aside and get rid of the evil conservative. Benedict Coyne can also campaign much harder on Dutton’s abuse of asylum seekers than Labor can, which he has been. He’s a human rights lawyer after all, so he’s pretty much the exact opposite of Dutton. Really hope France gets rid of him. The Greens will be more than happy to help her do so.

Yawn. You repeat the same garbage over and over. You’re almost as bad as Wayne.

Yes, you are living under a massive rock.’

I was at one time a Warden under the Act at Uluru. Part of my responsibilities was the legal enforcement of the imaging permitting regulations which were in place at the behest of the traditional owners. It was often an unpleasant occupation because non-Indigenous people and non-Indigenous camera people quite often took the view that THEY owned Uluru and could dispose of it as they wished. As you have done above.

Conflict with production units was almost guaranteed. If the conflict was occurring several hundred meters in the air and you were in a chopper with three or four very, very angry people in it, the conflict could be doubly anxiety-provoking.

So, my friend, in your haste to abuse me you have abused a whole lot of other people.
Rather than doubling up on your abuse as you have since done, you could try holding yourself to account for the abuse. After all, that is the meaning of your life, is it not? Holding people to account?

If you wish to take some action in relation to your abuse of an image of Uluru, my advice to you is to ask William to delete the image and to offer an apology to the traditional owners.

  27. rhwombat, Put that way I would be comfortable placing science within the realm of art, in the sense that science is a product of human minds. But an ever widening definition loses meaning. Art simply becomes thought. Art (to me) speaks to my sense of self, my worth and my purpose, and I see science as a powerful tool, rather than something that exists independently of us.

  28. “I suspect WB was alluding to the Yellow Star badge that the Nazi’s forced Jews to wear during the Holocaust when he made the Green Triangle comment.”

Pretty obvious allusion…but can we all not go there??

  29. That picture of RND looking spivy suggests that he should have been in advertising, not ScoMo. Scotty, on the other hand, looks more like a character from ‘The Office’.

  30. “Boerwar:

[Insert typical trolling nonsense from boerwar here]”

I repeat, you are living under a massive rock. Being one of the most impressive and most massive rocks in the world, I used Uluru as an example of the size of the figurative rock you are living under. Stop being pathetic and trying to use First Australians to troll me. It’s not working. You’re a joke.

  31. “The worst examples were the Greens voting down Labor’s emissions trading scheme in 2010 and refusing to back the Gillard government’s Malaysian solution to boat arrivals, forcing it instead to reintroduce the Liberals’ Pacific solution.
Both led to outcomes far worse than what the Greens said they wanted, for climate action or for refugees.”

Yup,………. i hope for better over the next three years in light of lessons that should be learned.
