Presidential election minus one day

My tip: Obama to win 303-235, carrying Ohio, Virginia, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Iowa, Colorado and Nevada.

If you’re a Crikey subscriber, you can observe my reading of the situation here, which concludes thus:

I don’t see any reason to bet against the view shared by FiveThirtyEight and the RealClearPolitics state polling averages: that Obama will win the electoral college 303 to 235, carrying Ohio, Virginia, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Iowa, Colorado and Nevada, while falling short in Florida and North Carolina.

Obama is the winner and the loser is Mod Lib.]

    Evening all.

    Fantastic result!!!

    Showson:

Not sure what you are getting at here????? My predictions were pretty much perfect….more to come on that.

Not only who won but my predicted margins not bad either 🙂

  2. By golly, this Barry can sure turn a speech and a half.

As somebody once said about another great speaker up Proserpine way, “this man has got a voice of puuuure velvet”!

  3. […But, seriously what sane person would walk into a voting booth and vote for a RW nutter who is going to send society back to the 40′s and 50′s…]

53 million Americans apparently, either way, depending on whether you are red or blue. Perhaps all 106 million of them.

  4. Thank doG that Obama won. Hopefully, this will start to marginalise the Teabaggers and serious nutjobbies that have been accumulating around the Repugs.

Also, might make some of their wannabee clones pull their heads in a tad and take some of the shine off the NO at all costs school of opposition.

Bachman lost her seat?? Poor petal. But it will raise the average IQ in congress substantially.

  5. Henry,

[ Barack needs the Kevin Andrews treatment on the hair. ]

Julia might offer to lend Tim to him for an hour or so. I bet he’s a dab hand with a bottle of Dark Brown! 😉

The Teabaggers certainly didn’t hang round to hear Romney’s concession speech. There was applause from the crowd when Romney congratulated Obama and no booing.

  7. [Too much American exceptionalism for my liking.

They haven’t adjusted to the realities of today.]

Diog, sometimes, just sometimes, you are wRONg 😆

    Obama with red hair…hmmm.

    Fantastic result!!!

Yep, but not as fantastic as seeing Abbott humiliated in 2013.

    Here’s to you, ML ]

I am afraid if my predicting abilities hold up, you may end up being wrong about Australia!

It is quite clear to me (and anyone who examines the issues objectively) that the best thing for the USA and the world is for Obama to beat Romney. There is not a doubt in my mind about that. In fact, I am a little bit of an Obama obsessive- have a 6ft picture made up of all the newspaper headlines after his 2008 win made into a mosaic!!!!

Remember – I am more Fred than Dick Chaney! 🙂

  10. Obama does a damn good speech. Much of it directed at the spoilers in the Repugs, but in the nicest possible way.

Like the mention of “warming planet”. That will set off the nutbaggers. 🙂

REally, a great speech for the circumstance.

  11. You wouldn’t believe it! Just as I sat down to have my celebratory shiraz my pager called me out to a grass fire from which I have just returned.

And what a delicious victory by Obama over the Tea Party infested Repugs. Where does that mob go to now?

Congratulations Mr Bowe on your excellent prediction]

    What about me?

Everyone else was on 303 but I predicted 332 and it looks like that is what is going to happen!

Indeed, not only was I one of the few who predicted Obama would win Florida despite polling and pundits thinking otherwise (including Nate Silver from 538!), I also was pretty close to the margin of victory (0.5% vs. likely 0.8%margin).

  13. Diogenes,

[ The Americans don’t do humility very well. ]

Winners are grinner’s there and there are no prizes for coming second! 😉

  14. [I am afraid if my predicting abilities hold up, you may end up being wrong about Australia!]

I would not be too cocky if I were you Mod Lib. Your predictions are normally on the crappy side of wRONg. 😛

  15. [Has Florida been called yet?]

Florida is definitely going to Obama….if anything the Miami Dade final count might INCREASE the majority, but there aint enough votes left for Romney to catch up a missing 1% of the vote.

    What about….
    NSW?
    Qld?
    Vic?
    NT?
    POTUS?
    US Senate?

I have done pretty well so far (not just the results, but the margins!

Yes, I got the prediction of Gillard being dumped wrong, but I can’t be held responsible for ALP caucus stupidity! 🙂 You guys can go down with her sinking ship if you want, I don’t have any problem with that!!!
