Morgan: 58-42 to Coalition

The latest fortnightly Morgan face-to-face result has the Coalition’s two-party lead steady at 58-42, although this stability is the result of a correction in the respondent-allocated preference flow after a worst-ever result for Labor last time. On other measures, Labor has in fact gone slightly backwards. Their primary vote is down half a point to 32 per cent with the Coalition up half a point to 48 per cent and the Greens down 1.5 per cent to 11 per cent. The Coalition’s two-party lead when preferences are distributed in accordance with the result of 2010 election has widened from 54.5-45.5 to 55.5-44.5. The poll was conducted over the past two weekends from combined sample of 1990.

  1. The Libs must be very sad as they see reality overtaking their campaign on the NBN.

With the recent retail pricing released by iiNet ( a premium ISP) and the likely effect that will have on the retail pricing offered by the more cut price operations, they are now on a hiding to nothing on the consumer costs argument.

Costs for basic phone services over the NBN seem to be not so far away either so more pain to come for them.

Pretty much the last risk factor is the Telstra shareholders vote but if the lobbying by Telstra management on the institutional investors is even somewhat effective that should go through no probs.

  2. Danny evan and mod lib take great pleasure of our position at the moment.

and love to scorn and snigger i cannot see they do but my goodness its not hard to imagine.

there turn will come every dog has his day,

if they are proud to be a liberal and love abbott well it them that one has to feel sorry for, but when and if they have him they will NOT be on a desert island

he will crush them the same as us, they dont live on a separate space they live here.

how on earth do these people call them selves aust. its beyond my thinking.

there karma will come with abbott, the hospitals run down no improvement in pensions and his ways are so scary now think if he was pm, not one institution in this country would be safe.

MR windsor wtte said there was no way he would hand abbott to aust.

now that must tell you something and MR windsor is and ind.

[my un political oh saw the neal thing and said where is Mirrabella then]

Ms. Mirabella woes will play out in due course, unless Mr. Howard’s children decide not to pursue the matter, which, for reasons advanced by smithe, is unlikely.

Save for murder I can’t think of a more damaging political issue than an “allegation” of a well paid pollie taking financial advantage of an old person, suffering dementia.

So tell me Danny if Rudd resumed the leadership next week would you accept that?

Yes, I would. I could care less who leads a party, I am more interested in policy and passing legislation.
    ]

    Same Here.

I have always supported the party – inspite of who the leader was.

Thats what costello used to say about howard.

    …and with good reason!

There is a difference wasting money when you are rolling in it versus when you are borrowing it. Well, thats my opinion anyway.

    Nonsense and you know it.

  6. If you were a pox on both their houses glen you would appld the nbn – it really is no brainer given the appalling market failure of the telstra privatisation.

Labor only hold 7 seats in Qld. Get my drift?]

Isn’t it 8? Anyway, there will be a half dozen in Qld and more in NSW, a couple in WA, perhaps SA, Vic and a couple in Tas. Given its even now, I suspect that will be enough…

Just for the record, I couldn’t care less what Evan’s opinions are. He is entitled to believe whatever he wants. It’s just his tedious MO of instigating, then playing victim is getting really annoying]
And his hallelujah’s every time he thinks Gilllard has got it wrong. Tiresome.
And his hallelujah’s every time he thing Rudd’s got it right. Tiresome.
In a word, evan is TIRESOME

  9. william hard effort you joking,

  11. MTBW: absolutely. Like many of the Ruddistas on here, you seem to be labouring under the misapprehension that I am somehow anti-Rudd.

I am not. I love the Ruddster. I’d love to see him in the top job again if that is what Labor needed in order to win the next election.

I am a LABOR person. I want what’s best for the Party, not for any particular individual who resides within it.

Gilllard, Rudd, Smith, whomever; I really don’t care. I just want us to stay in government, and having that opportunity to legislate an agenda to forward the interest of Australia and Australians for many years to come.

You have articulated in the right words, the angst I feel about Mirabella’s conduct.

why do i have the urge to burst out ….

Oh Danny Boy, the Rudd, the Rudd is calling …………………..

  15. Re the politicisation of refugees: I’m currently holed up in the Royal Melbourne, seeing a large team of specialists, including neurologists, opthamologists, audiologists, and registrars and nursing staff. At least 75% are of Asian heritage, of one sort or another (large region, I know!).

Every single one of them is an amazing professional with respect for the patients, and show a massive work ethic. They tend to all sorts – the aged, the young … different nationalities, religions, backgrounds and beliefs. Some of their patients would no doubt be bigotted, but does that stop these wonderful people from performing miracles? No.

Truly, we are blessed to have refugees grace our stores, and others who arrive here with visas. The fact that the ‘legality’ of their arrival is an issue does this nation a great disservice. The next time you are in hospital, and the specialist who is about to tell you that he/she will care for you until you are well again after life-threatening brain surgery, say “Thankyou”.

  16. [A pox on both your houses person would also applaud the Swan award, i think glen you had a partisan flame war with jas.]

It was some serious bitter grapes followed by chewing on a rather tasteless sandwich. Very good look

[Evan was posting here for four years before it occurred to anyone to make this kind of complaint.]

Thank doG a deep cover operation by way of a sleeper cell led by evan has been detected before any serious damage was done to the Labor Government.

Mod lib shall you return then i doubt it

you say some very nasty things you do , yo only come to look at polls you want to return after the elction seem to be you only have one thing on your mind and that is sarcasim and gotcha

    more karma to you

you are the main reason i dont bother being here i cannot stand liberals yes but at least blackspur is a gentleman]

    My say:

You frequently say nasty things about me and equally frequently you don’t explain what it is that I have said that you take offence to, making it hard to respond.

If you choose to leave the blog because I am here, then that is unfortunate. However, it will have no effect whatsoever on whether or not I post here.

Thanks for the karma warning, I am pretty happy to take whatever karma I deserve (not that I would have a choice anyway! 😉 )

  20. I’m going to change my on-screen name (also email address which reflects this, a hangover from a marriage break-up a long time ago).

Much healing has taken place the last week or so, and I have an opportunity to reinvent myself. Given that I’m a ‘leftie’, I’m asking for suggestions, ala Glen and TLM.

    Anyone?

  21. [A pox on both your houses person would also applaud the Swan award, i think glen you had a partisan flame war with jas.]

That implies I have good things to say about the LNP or Labor which I rarely do so why should I applaud Last Man Standing W. Swan?

  22. […so why should I applaud Last Man Standing W. Swan?]

Because it is the decent thing to do? John Howard congratulated Paul Keating. Why be so nasty?

[i was in the bank yesterday 10 woman three men and the day before supermarket and visiting new friends from S Africa who bought my mothers old home

well to a tee they bought up the conversations not me, very critical of the abc.
and all said how they love Julia one lady said she fronts up, and the whole bank said YES, they all commented how they hate abbott and are very scared one lady said we want have a pension we will all be in the poor house, in year,]

More anecdotal evidence that the Prime Minister is not as unpopular amongst women as some would suggest.

I do like to hear these positive stories, so do keep them coming – it serves to maintain morale in the ranks.

Not at all! We all have different points of view and are entitled to them. I would prefer that what happened to Rudd had not occurred at all. I think the haste with which it was done set the Party back a long way and I don’t think the Party has really recovered from that. We have what we have and time will tell where it goes from here.

My feeling is that we should all be able to express our point of view in a reasonable manner without it being attacked by others as disloyalty if it does not align with their view. I think all posters should be free to express a point of view without derision that view should be treated with respect.
