BludgerTrack: 54.5-45.5 to Labor

A devastating Newspoll strips the Coalition of almost all of its poll trend gains from two improved results last week.

In the week that brought them the Victorian election result, Newspoll has taken from the Coalition what Ipsos and Essential Research gave the week before in BludgerTrack, with Labor up 0.6% on two-party preferred and making seat projection gains in Victoria and South Australia. I’m afraid I’ve been too preoccupied/lazy to update the leadership trends, but Newspoll is unlikely to have changed them much. Other than that, full results from the link below.

  1. I suspect that Scummo’s personal approval rating is benefiting bigglie from voters who really, really do not want another change of PM>

  2. Today is not starting well for the ScoFauxMo Express…

Liberal MPs are urging Scott Morrison to take the gloves off and “publicly finish off” Malcolm Turnbull as even former allies condemned the ex-PM’s latest political interference.

The Daily Telegraph can reveal MPs from all sides of the party are privately lashing out at Mr Turnbull with some calling for the former leader to be publicly repudiated or even expelled from the party if he continues to disrupt the Coalition government.

They believe his ongoing interventions are further risking the Liberals’ fortunes at both federal and state elections.”

  3. There has often been comments on here about how this poll or that poll has been manipulted by the pollsters.

I have my own theory on this matter.

The polls from time to time are manipulated by one William Bowe. He deliberately throws in an outlier from time to time to generate more traffic and outrage to this blog.

Of course I can’t prove this, but think about it for a moment and you’ll see it makes sense. Certainly more sense than voters are returning to the LNP anyway.

  4. I’m sorry… but this continues to show the total disconnect.

If the goss last night was true.
    1. They care only about the party room, not the public
    2. Thinking threatening Julie Bishop is something they can reasonably do?
    3. Now, thinking Malcolm is the reason they’re increasingly toxic to not only middle-Australia generally, but some of their core voters… total delusion.

  5. I think it is worth revisiting these stories, posted here by two different posters last night …

    https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2018/dec/03/david-attenborough-collapse-civilisation-on-horizon-un-climate-summit

    https://reneweconomy.com.au/coal-power-on-way-out-sooner-rather-than-later-says-aemo-38807/

On the one hand, we have a world-renowned environmental expert pointing out we are heading for an utter catastrophe, and the UN climate experts pointing out that not only are we not on track to meet our current commitments, we must increase our current level of action fivefold if we want to do so.

And on the other hand, we have AEMO and the usual band of Australian solar spriuikers saying WTTE “don’t worry, economic forces will take care of coal, no need to panic or take any drastic action, everything’s under control …”.

    Says it all, really 🙁
