Evidence is starting to emerge of a strengthening in Kamala Harris’s position in the wake of last week’s debate, and while this hardly amounts to a paradigm shift in terms of the popular vote – after rounding to whole numbers, The Economist’s poll aggregate records no change from Harris’s 50-46 lead when the debate was held on September 10 – it’s been enough to move forecast models substantially in her favour. Nate Silver’s model is the most striking case in point, with Trump’s win probability falling from 59.7% to 52.0% just over the past few days, having peaked at 64.4% the day before the debate. After bouncing around 52-48 for a couple of weeks, The Economist’s probability reading now has Harris leading 57-43. FiveThirtyEight’s model remains the most bullish for the Democrats, putting Harris’s win probability at 63%. More from Adrian Beaumont at The Conversation.
US presidential election minus seven weeks
Still anyone’s guess as to who will occupy the White House come February, but it does seem that last week’s debate has moved the dial towards Kamala Harris.
I saw the video clip on ABC breakfast, where the camera turned to Lebanon officials when Biden was providing mealy-mouthed platitudes regarding West Asia (aka Middle East) in UN General assembly speech
The Lebanon official faces were filthy with rage.
We all agree that Lebanon is not a disputed territory in any shape or form and Israel is currently trying to bomb, as per ABC News, to stone age (if you consider diplomatic language of UN Chief). They repeatedly bombed Lebanon capital Beirut.

“Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has asked the Supreme Court to reinstate his name on New York’s ballot, despite ending his campaign and endorsing former President Donald Trump.
The independent presidential candidate was disqualified from New York’s ballot in August after a judge determined that Kennedy’s connections to the New York address “existed only on paper and were maintained for the sole purpose of maintaining his voter registration and political standing” in the state.
Lower courts have rejected his attempts to challenge the decision.
In his emergency appeal to the Supreme Court, Kennedy argued that his supporters in the state “have a constitutional right to have Kennedy placed on the ballot — and to vote for him, whether he is campaigning for their vote or not.”
”
WTF…..WTBBF?
He fought tooth and nail in NC Supreme Court for his name to removed from the ballot. I think he did that in some swing states but wants his name to be on the ballot paper of NY. (shaking my head emoji)

GOP Senate candidate says women are ‘crazy’ to care about abortion( video clip and transcript are provided in the article)

“Bernie Moreno, the Republican nominee for the Senate race in Ohio, told an audience on Friday that many women voters are solely focused on abortion rights. Moreno also said it was “crazy” for women over fifty to be concerned over the abortion issue at all.
Previously, Moreno has said he opposes abortion rights and described his position as “absolute pro-life, no exceptions.”
Moreno isn’t the only Republican that thinks people are too focused on abortion. Trump recently complained about it at a rally on Monday in Indiana, Pennsylvania.
Moreno made his recent abortion comments at a town hall meeting held in Warren County, Ohio.”

Trump and Vance face criminal charges over Springfield hoax\
An Ohio law allowing citizens to file criminal charges is being used to target former President Donald Trump and Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) over their comments about Haitians in Springfield.
According to Fox 8, the Haitian Bridge Alliance filed criminal charges against the two Republican candidates at Clark County Municipal Court on Tuesday.
“The criminal charges stem from the devastating harm of Trump’s and Vance’s baseless fearmongering that legal Haitian immigrants to the Ohio town are eating their neighbor’s pets,” Chandra Law Firm said.
“The Haitian community is suffering in fear because of Trump and Vance’s relentless, irresponsible, false alarms, and public services have been disrupted,” lead counsel Subodh Chandra said in a statement. “Trump and Vance must be held accountable to the rule of law. Anyone else who wreaked havoc the way they did would have been arrested by now.”

That is the crux of the problem when it comes to Trump and Vance.
And at least Trump believes that he can do and say whatever he wants and n one will hold him accountable for it.
Some weird conventions in US Senate procedure…
WHATEVER IT TAKES: Vice President KAMALA HARRIS on Tuesday said she would support ending the filibuster to pass abortion-rights legislation, our MEGAN MESSERLY reports. In an interview with Wisconsin Public Radio, Harris backed calls to change the procedure so that a Democratic-controlled Senate could pass legislation codifying Roe v. Wade’s protections into federal law.
“I think we should eliminate the filibuster for Roe, and get us to the point where 51 votes would be what we need to actually put back in law the protections for reproductive freedom and for the ability of every person and every woman to make decisions about their own body and not have their government tell them what to do,” Harris said.
Soon after her comments, retiring Sen. JOE MANCHIN (I-W.Va.) said he won’t endorse Harris over the pledge. “Shame on her,” Manchin said on Tuesday. “She knows the filibuster is the Holy Grail of democracy. It’s the only thing that keeps us talking and working together. If she gets rid of that, then this would be the House on steroids.”
IMO
US State department at least under Biden administration categorise foreign countries as follows:
Close allies, Strategic partners and/ or frenemies, enemies hostile to its interest.
But when it comes to Israel it is totally different relationship. US behaves as its national interest are subservient to that of Israel National interest.

Bernie Moreno: “Sadly, by the way, there’s a lot of suburban women, a lot of suburban women that are like, ‘Listen, abortion is it. If I can’t have an abortion in this country whenever I want, I will vote for anybody else.’ … OK. It’s a little crazy by the way, but — especially for women that are like past 50 — I’m thinking to myself, ‘I don’t think that’s an issue for you.’”

Quinnipiac showing Trump with 47% favourable (to 50 unfav). MOFO JFC. WTFF is wrong with that place?
You have to ask the question – if Trump wins, are the people actually saying they want a racist sexist authoritarian man toddler incompetent system of government? And if so, should they they get it and all the bells and whistles that come with it?
Silver is right, we do need to be prepared.
And Manchin can GAGF, does he really think Trump and the GOP senators will preserve the filibuster if they have the power. Trump demanded they remove it in 2018, are there enough responsible GOP senators left to withstand him next time? If a candidate has run their campaign with a clear headline promise, and the Senate shows itself to be completely unworkably partisan – then absolutely the filibuster should give way to that. Right or wrong, left or right, liberal or conservative bill.
Half of voters plan to cast ballots early, with a huge partisan split
The new NBC News poll shows 51% of registered voters saying they plan to vote early, with that group breaking hard for Harris and Election Day voters backing Trump.
https://www-nbcnews-com.cdn.ampproject.org/v/s/www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/rcna172253?amp_gsa=1&_js_v=a9&usqp=mq331AQIUAKwASCAAgM%3D#amp_tf=From%20%251%24s&aoh=17272219876282&referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com&share=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.nbcnews.com%2Fpolitics%2F2024-election%2Fhalf-voters-plan-cast-ballots-early-huge-partisan-split-rcna172253
“Half of registered voters plan to vote early this fall, new figures from the September NBC News poll show, with Democrats continuing to run up the score among early voters and Republicans getting stronger backing from those who plan to vote in person on Election Day.
Fifty-one percent of voters say they’ll vote early, either by mail or in person, with Vice President Kamala Harris leading former President Donald Trump 61%-35% (a 26-point margin) among those voters.
By comparison, Trump leads by 20 points, 57%-37%, with the group of voters who plan to vote on Election Day, which accounts for 45% of the electorate in the poll. It’s a smaller lead among a slightly smaller share of the electorate than Harris has over those early voters.
“Either the margin has to close among
voting early, or Republican margins on Election Day have to be bigger than this to win,” said Bill McInturff, the Republican pollster who conducted the NBC News poll with Jeff Horwitt of Hart Research Associates.”
Out of Trump’s mouth in Savannah, Georgia: “We gave you the biggest tax hikes in history” before he corrected himself.
This is at the start of a MidasTouch video where Trump also claims a 20% tariff on every imported item will have zero effect on inflation; also threatens massive deportations to countries around the world. Plus the usual whinges and complaints. Video ends with Biden’s final address to the UN General Assembly.
Honestly, the man and his co-conspirators are a danger to humanity.

We know the damage Hitler has done to the world especially West.
Imagine the damage Trump can do to the world if he becomes POTUS again since US is the most powerful nation in the world.
“She knows the filibuster is the holy grail of democracy,” said Manchin, who is retiring from the Senate. “It’s the only thing that keeps us talking and working together. If she gets rid of that, then this would be the House on steroids.”
Joe Manchin’s Senate seat is more likely than not to go Republican in West Virginia. So pfft! to what HE has to say!
Pretty sure it was all the swing states plus a few extra. He’s all-in on boosting Trump. Guessing the NY thing is in some way vaguely because:
– The state is not in play, electoral-college wise
– The state has a large population
– Peeling some votes off Harris decreases the magnitude of her popular-vote win
Or could just be a vanity thing. Wanting to see how many votes he can actually get, in a state where it won’t disadvantage Trump.
US Senate election – 2024
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2024_United_States_Senate_elections
“All 33 Class 1 Senate seats, and one Class 2 seat are up for election in 2024; Class 1 currently consists of 20 Democrats, 4 independents who caucus with the Senate Democrats (before the end of the 117th Congress, Kyrsten Sinema left the Democratic Party and became an independent. She later announced her retirement in March 2024.
In May 2024, Joe Manchin also announced he had left the Democratic party and registered as an independent, citing “broken politics” as the deciding factor in his decision.
), and 10 Republicans.
Election analysts consider the map for these Senate elections to be highly unfavorable to Democrats. Democrats will be defending 23 of the 33 Class 1 seats.
Three seats being defended by Democrats are in states won by Republican Donald Trump in both 2016 and 2020, while there are no seats in this class held by Republicans in states won by Democrat Joe Biden in 2020. In the previous Senate election cycle that coincided with a presidential election (2020), only one senator (Susan Collins of Maine) was elected in a state that was simultaneously won by the presidential nominee of the opposite party.”
The states where Democrats are up for reelection: Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Montana, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, Arizona, Maryland, Wisconsin.

But out the 23 Senate races Democrats are contesting, they already gave up on West Virginia. At least 7 are in swing/Trump states.
One slip Dems will lose majority.
https://www.news5cleveland.com/news/local-news/haitian-nonprofit-in-springfield-files-criminal-charges-against-donald-trump-jd-vance
The leader of the nonprofit Haitian Bridge Alliance filed charges against former president Donald Trump and his running mate, JD Vance, for the chaos that ensued from their uncorroborated statements about immigrants in Springfield, Ohio, eating pets, according to the Cleveland law firm representing the agency.
The Chandra Law Firm says the nonprofit used a state statute allowing private citizens to “file an affidavit charging the offense committed.”
The following charges were filed:
Disrupting public service — by causing widespread bomb and other threats that resulted in massive disruptions to the public services in Springfield, Ohio;
Making false alarms — by knowingly causing alarm in the Springfield community by continuing to repeat lies that state and local officials have said were false;
Committing telecommunications harassment — by spreading claims they know to be false during the presidential debate, campaign rallies, nationally televised interviews, and social media;
Committing aggravated menacing in violation — by knowingly making intimidating statements with the intent to abuse, threaten, or harass the recipients, including Trump’s threat to deport immigrants who are here legally to Venezuela, a land they have never known;
Committing aggravated menacing — by knowingly causing others to falsely believe that members of Springfield’s Haitian community would cause serious physical harm to the person or property of others in Springfield; and
Violating the prohibition against complicity — by conspiring with one another and spreading vicious lies that caused innocent parties to be parties to their various crimes.
The charges were filed in Clark County Municipal Court.
Through the filing, the nonprofit asks the court to affirm probable cause and to issue arrest warrants.
The court must have a hearing before rejecting the affidavit as part of the legal process.
Hmm, that might make Trump and Vance’s visit to Springfield a tad dicey.

LEAKING LIKE A SIEVE: For how much time he spends going after the media, Donald Trump sure is benefitting handsomely from their restraint. A number of outlets have said in recent weeks that they’ve been shopped hacked internal materials from the Trump campaign. But so far, none have published any of them. Why not? Because they’re suspected of having been stolen by a malign foreign actor, likely Iran.
Whoever is stealing the materials, the scope of their access is remarkable. Today, Popular Information’s Judd Legum reports that new materials are still being stolen: The same actors who have been shopping dirt on Trump to other outlets sent him a dossier yesterday containing information stolen from the Trump campaign within the last ten days.

Where are all the right-wing neoliberal free market economists when you need them?
Trump has just told an audience of farmers in Pennsylvania that if John Deere, the major US farm equipment manufacturer sets up a plant in Mexico, then he will impose a 200% tariff on their imported products. Will the MAGA farmers be happy to pay despite what it will cost them?

It would appear clear that the capitalist class in the US are prepared to tolerate Trump’s narcissistic clowning – as fundamentally they know he is a fool who will wallow in flattery and favours.
And leave them alone to further hone capitalism knowing that an indolent dolt is wearing the crown.

…more like 45% of intending voters, or about 30% of persons eligible to vote, affiliate in spite of everything with MAGA-madness. Around 2% of the US adult population has been disenfranchised by various legislative enactments, meaning the MAGA-bound make up a likely 29% of the voting-age population. This is enough for Trump to pose a profound threat to the rule of law and the constitutional order in the US.
The US system is dysfunctional in many respects. It is extraordinary that ill-educated, poorly-paid, culturally-estranged, economically-exploited, geographically-marginalised white males should be prepared to so readily vote for the party of the billionaires….to vote against their own best interests.
Hopefully their mothers, sisters, wives and daughters will save the US and the rest of us from MAGA-driven stupidities.

Yes yes. OK. OK. 45% of those who will vote. Give or take. More or less. 65% confidence interval…. MOE of 5%. Blah!
Yes, not all of them are MAGA. But they arent listening to independent reporting either. Or any reporting.
Well, you know. Courts need to stop handling Trump with kids’ gloves. Throw his ass in jail. They’ll take notice of the reporting then.
It’s absurd that he’s convicted of 34 felonies and has court cases underway for several more but is allowed to go gallivanting around the country as if he’s done nothing wrong.

Is that the sort of bad luck you get when you burn more than half of the world’s coal?
If this is happening with Robinson, it will most likely occur on a massive scale should Trump lose the election and end up in prison.
As I thought, Muslim world is turning against Biden administration as per ABC News. This may influence Muslim Americans how they vote in November election.
As it is, some text message polling says only 12% Muslims in Michigan want to vote for Harris. Michigan is very important for Harris path to victory.
As per current polls Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania are within margin of error.
By telling Muslims that Trump in power will be even worse for them won’t wash because
1. They already know that
2. Their relatives and friends are currently either getting maimed or killed. (How will anyone else will react anything differently if they are in their shoes)
3. They understand that Biden administration won’t do anything about Middle East situation at least till election.( I don’t want to elaborate that as you know what I mean)
I read some where that around 240000 Muslims live in Michigan.
https://www.insidermonkey.com/blog/5-states-with-the-highest-muslim-population-in-the-us-1247594/
Mich, Maryland, NJ, NY and IL are the states with highest Muslim population.
Latest Ipsos/Reuters poll:
Harris: 50%
Trump: 44%
They’ll be so fed up with Biden that they’ll turn around and vote for the guy who literally wants to ban them from the country? Not likely.
Worst case, they just won’t vote.
If that map is accurate, Hurricane Helene will be going right over Atlanta, although of course not at full strength, but still has the capability of doing a lot of damage as a tropical storm. Hopefully there won’t be too much damage.
Ven,
Muslim-Americans voting for Trump would be like turkeys voting for Xmas.
So they may want to vote for Jill Stein instead? …And hand the election to Trump…who wants to send them back to the Middle East and create a White Nationalist America. That guy? And that stooge for Putin? Could they be that stupid and blinded by their inability to see the wood for the trees? Maybe.
