Shorten 52.0, Albanese 48.0

Late news: Bill Shorten to lead Labor after solid caucus vote win cancels out rank-and-file majority for Anthony Albanese.

Labor’s leadership selection process has concluded with a narrow win for Bill Shorten, whose decisive victory in the caucus vote was enough to outweigh rank-and-file support for Anthony Albanese. As foreshadowed in news reportage over the past two days, Shorten’s caucus support was in the fifties, at 55 votes against 31 for Albanese. The rank-and-file ballot attracted 18,230 votes for Albanese against 12,196 for Shorten. With each accounting for 50% of the total, the final score reads thus:

			Caucus Branches	Total
Bill Shorten 63.95% 40.08% 52.02%
Anthony Albanese	36.05% 59.92% 47.98%

Plenty of bird-shit and chicken wire on top of Shakespeare.

Maybe the Peregrines have moved upmarket and into the City.

  3. [ It is when the first item involves PM Abbott ]

I thought that the first item was always headed, “The Opposition says”………..

As long as the RAVENS are still there ??????

The ravens of the Tower of London are a group of captive Common Ravens which live in the Tower of London. The group of ravens at the Tower comprises at least seven individuals (six required, with a seventh in reserve). The presence of the ravens is traditionally believed to protect the Crown and the Tower; a superstition holds that “If the Tower of London ravens are lost or fly away, the Crown will fall and Britain with it.”

    Long gone.

Never ate the peas – used to lick the gravy off them and there’d be a pile of peas left in the bowl.

But . . . drop frozen peas and he snuffled after them like lollies.

  6. The 9% is to replace the 42% they awarded themselves earlier and had to back-track on due to public outrage.

Easy fixed though. Just give themselves 5 lots of 8.5% and all fixed.

    Nobody will notice, will they!

[As long as the RAVENS are still there ??????]

    They are around as well.

The Peregrines are something to watch. Where they are nesting includes 3 tower blocks that are 400ft high.

How fast they can come up from the Podium on the updraft is amazing.

I watched one a couple of weeks doing that – as it went over the top it did a backflip!

[Toff’s with Purdeys lurking on the Barbican roof tops ?]

They’d be strung up outside the Girl’s School for all to see from the Podium.

    We like our new neighbours.

They are magnificent looking birds – I just read this

The Peregrine is renowned for its speed, reaching over 322 km/h (200 mph) during its characteristic hunting stoop (high speed dive), making it the fastest member of the animal kingdom. According to a National Geographic TV programme, the highest measured speed of a Peregrine Falcon is 389 km/h (242 mph).

WOW ….. almost as fast as you in the MERC 😉

That’d be the Anna Bligh commissioned increase….

    [Never ate the peas ]

The gravy bit I can understand. I hope it was made rather than crappy instant.

It’s funny the things they’ll eat and what they won’t – we had a Collie sheep dog who loved bananas!

Reading the article peregrines look to be safer in town hanging out at places like yours. Pity about the ones having to live out on Lord Hyphen-Hyphens grouse and pheasant shooting estates.

  13. CTar1 @1927 – some of those 40 sec microwave packs are pretty good.

Generally I use Gravox as a base but add to it.

Only on big events do I do it from scratch.

  14. IU used to enjoy watching the resident magpies at BITS Golf Course wipe the BBQ sauce off the meat patties & steak thrown to them at the Clubhouse BBQ’s before they’d eat it.

One thing that’s been noticed since they arrived is that the expense of cleaning duck crap out of the numerous ponds has decreased so maybe there will be a return on the chicken wire that was put up to stop chics being ingested into the ventilation.

  17. [ No Can Do’s work was to establish an independent body to set renumeration.

Please try and keep up. Electoral allowances have been slashed from 30 allowances under Labor to only 3 under Campbell Newmans new system. ]

And what a great success it was too. When it became public that they were using that as ban excuse to give themselves a 42% pay rise in lieu, there was public outrage that hadn’t been seen in Qld, before or since.

    Are you completely stupid?

There was NO independent body setting pollie pay in QLD before Campbell Newman set one up. This 8-9% payrise is occuring under this new independent body which never existed under Labor.

You should be welcoming this reform, but you won’t because you are an idiot.

I borrowed a roof key from the Estate Office and dragged a telescope up so my nephews children could have a good look at them.

They kept me out there for almost two hours taking turns on the telescope.

[“giving the Labor Party a chance to repent” on the issue.]
I see Abbott has swapped the lycra for a “Repent. The End is Nigh” sandwich board.

  21. Question: When will we see the $550 in the bank account?

    Answer: Never

Just another day of fibs from the Libs.

Electricity prices in WA went up over 60% in the last year or two and due to go up again 4% this year.

Little or nothing to do with the CT and just a crass lie.

Of course, the fact that many households actually got a compensated amount for the CT, is also conveniently ignored by the Tories.

Hypocrisy knows no bounds for this mob.

My guess is the the repeal of the CT is becoming increasingly meaningless.

Does anyone out in voter land really give a stuff?

The fact that the conservatives will have no policy in the area while the rest of the world is moving to a market mechanism approach shows how stupid they are.

Is that the only way you can win a debate besides using selective “facts”.

You are an extremely obnoxious troll, aren’t you.

No need to answer as I’m out of here before I say something that I may regret. I certainly can find better things to spend my time at than getting abused by some Lib cretin.
