The Australian reports the latest Newspoll has One Nation widening a primary vote lead by holding steady on 30% while Labor falls two to 27%, and the Coalition and the Greens remain unchanged at 19% and 13% respectively. Anthony Albanese is down two on approval to 35% and up three on disapproval to 62%. The one indication Pauline Hanson has been harmed by recent bad press is her personal ratings, with approval down three to 44% and disapproval up three to 51%. Of Angus Taylor we are told only that his net rating has improved from minus 17 to minus 15 (UPDATE: Up two on approval to 35% and steady on disapproval at 50%), but he has almost closed the gap on head-to-head preferred prime minister, on which Albanese’s lead has narrowed from to 44-35 to 42-41. The three-way measure has Albanese down two to 44%, Hanson up one to 32% and Taylor up one to 24%. The poll was conducted Monday to Thursday from a sample of 1244.

This is in response to UK officials recent visits to Australia to reassure us that our billions are not being wasted. Key points:
– attempts to get UK SSN maintenance back on track have failed
– HMS Agamemnon “commissioning” last year was a farce. It has yet to go to sea for trials.
– SSN AUKUS design is NOT on track. Preliminary design review due in September 2026 has not occured.
– SSN reactor builder Rolls Royce is far short of technical workforce recruiting targets.
At some point Albo or Marles or their successors will have to admit reality on AUKUS. Albo has presumably decided he will not deal with it before retiring.

One Nation has opened up a lead over Labor among Millennials and Generation X as the Prime Minister continues to flail through a turbulent period for the government.
The latest News24.com.au Pulse / YouGov poll put Pauline Hanson’s One Nation on 27 per cent of the primary vote, leading all other political parties.
One Nation slid three points from its previous poll high of 30 per cent, while Labor flatlined on 26 per cent and the Coalition jumped three points to 21 per cent.
The Greens trailed on 14 per cent, while independents attracted six per cent and another five per cent supported other other parties.
Labor led the Coalition 52-48 (unchanged) on a two-party-preferred basis and increased its lead over One Nation by four points to 55-45.

Once upon a time, before this term, they’d say Labor lead 55-45%. or 52-48 depending where you want to go. No good telling us ON is leading when they are behind 55-45%. That is not our voting system. 55-45% is electoral slaughter. Labor got that last election. Although with the primary it certainly won’t be 94 seats. Greens seem to benefitting a bit from Labor’s vote drop. not so bad for Labor, as unlike the right side, their preferences don’t leak that much. just means though Labor drops a few odd seats to the Greens. LNP are only down 52-48%, but at 21% they see alot less top two in seats and will rely alot on preferences to get there to jump ON. Their seat number swill drop. In rural areas they will be hoping they qet top two as much as possible with ON as Labor preferences will get them home. They have to beat Labor on one hand then rely on their preferences.
It’s getting to the point now that preferences are alot more important than primary votes. These primaries won’t do anything for anyone as they are low, hence not separated by much. Here the top two are 53% so there’s 47% up for grabs.

To visualise just how much ground Labor has lost, this is where they were at in the beginning of the election cycle.
No One Nation in sight and Labor had a 101 seat advantage including winning the majority of the 2PP vote and seats in Queensland.
