First up, note new threads below on this weekend’s elections in New Zealand and Germany.
Now to the matter at hand: new polls this week from Essential Research and YouGov have done next to nothing to alter the BludgerTrack poll aggregate this week, the biggest change being a reversal of a Greens gain last week. The Coalition nonetheless makes a net gain of two on the seat projection, being up one apiece in Queensland and South Australia. No new results on leadership ratings.
I suspect that voters are annoyed at the government for having foisted the plebi-survey campaign on them.
Newspoll!
Thanks Tony & Cory I’d say

Now the countdown starts
As Rex will say, all Shorten’s fault.
When I lived in the UK, the fellow upstairs was a Rugby-following, chain-smoking, Richard-drinking French open-ocean yachty. Barking mad.
Made us dinner a few times. One dish was:
– Bacon (of course he had a different word for it and made a song and dance about bringing it back with him last time he sailed across la Manche)
– About 1kg of thinly sliced potato.
– A wheel of soft cheese with a vivid orange rind. The thing glowed in the dark, and I swear it was as big a a dinner plate.
Arrange the bacon on the bottom of the dish, layer up the potato, place the whole unadulterated
cheese wheel on top. Drink a lot of Ricard while it bakes. Eat. Die.
And we have movement. Not the way I was expecting.
The Liberals won’t dump Turnbull. They will reason – correctly – that Abbott destroyed his own Government and is doing his best to destroy this one too.
With the release of the Newspoll it might be time once again to see who is still standing in the LIBSPILL III Sweepstakes:
Speaking of cheese, wrapped a brie in pastry and bake. Serve with crackers, and dried fruits.
I hope Turnbull is forced to an election in the next few months. I’ll be a landslide.
Go now Malcolm & save the furniture!
LU:
Sounds like manna from heaven to me. Bacon, which everyone acknowledges is awesome, cheese, which we all know makes everything better in the one dish. What’s not to love?
‘fess – Newspoll ho hum …
More important not small onions and carrot to go with the potatos/chook?

I make the stock from scratch- chicken bones from tonight’s roast are on the stove now.
I don’t use the butter any more because the little ones don’t agree with dairy, and have found substituting in olive oil is fine. Nutallex is not fine – you get a lump of nutallex flavoured potato at the end.
Tip: choose a small pot and fit the potatoes in snugly. You want to cover them in the stock.
54-46 has a nice ring to it.
CTar:
I reserve my carrots and onions for slow roasting.
LU:
Thanks for that. I agree olive oil is a good substitute.
Totally trying that next weekend with the roast.
The horror show that is the plebi-thing will be blamed on the Liberals. Labor opposed it. The Senate opposed it. The public dislike it. It has become a campaign vehicle for the detestable Abbott and the depraved No voices. The Libs will wear this for many months to come.
Ides, I like it! We do wweet onion chutney as a… vegetable dish, to accompany it.
But what’s the pastry for? We just bake the brie nekkid.
LU
Potato fondant. My mouth is watering thinking about that.
New thread.
Any possibility of Fran Kelly or Sabra Lane referring to this result tomorrow?
No Newspoll yet?
TIC TIC BOOM!
Oh dear, zoidlord has exploded 🙂
