The fortnightly Sky News Pulse poll by YouGov has Labor up three points to 30%, the Coalition up one to 21%, One Nation down three to 24% and the Greens steady on 14%. Labor’s two-party lead over the Coalition is unchanged at 54-46, but is much improved against One Nation at 57-43, out from 53-47. Anthony Albanese is up two on approval to 40% and down three on disapproval to 54%, while Angus Taylor is steady on 38% and down one to 42%. Albanese’s lead over Taylor on preferred prime minister is out from 44-39 to 45-36, and his lead over Pauline Hanson is out from 50-39 to 54-35. The poll was conducted last Tuesday to this Tuesday from a sample size unspecified in the report, which was likely around 1100 (UPDATE: It was actually 1500, as is typical for this series).
The weekly Roy Morgan poll has Labor steady at 29.5%, the Coalition up one-and-a-half to 24%, One Nation down one to 21.5% and the Greens down one to 13%. Labor’s lead on respondent-allocated preferences is unchanged at 54.5-45.5, while its lead on previous election preferences is in from 54-46 to 53-47. The poll was conducted Monday to Sunday from a sample of 1681.

I don’t know who Starmer’s speech writer is, but, given the internet, he and Lazy Angus could economise and job-share a speech writer, since they are both in complete denial about their far from distant demise.
It is obvious that they have both demonstrably failed, as has Ms Hume. The lines she used on 7.30 tonight are the same as Starmer used in his talk.

This is not completely accurate. Labor stood in bye-elections of New England (2017), Groom (2020), and Fadden (2023) knowing they had no chance of winning.
You are right though that Jane Hume deflection is piss weak considering the coalition disaster in Farrer was largely self inflicted and a indictment on them.
Liberals didn’t run in the Batman bye-election knowing Labor was up shit creek without a paddle. And a Liberal candidate would preference Labor and aid Labor chances against the Greens. Labor simply returned the favor in Farrer. It was simply smart politics from Labor that Angus Taylor, Jane Hume, and the Liberals now have a big shit burger to eat from the disastrous result.
In Hume’s car crash interview on 7:30 report she also said people were mostly dissatisfied with the government from the bye-election result. But the Coalition’s vote collapsed with one in eight voters voting Liberal in a previously safe Liberal seat. Nobody is buying Humes spin.

Whether 50%+1 of voters like it or not, and accept it or not, excessive carbon emissions are heating the planet to a degree inconsistent with the maintenance of much of its life – including plants, animals and humans – continuing their existence as they have been accustomed to. That is hard reality, whether it is congenial to ON/LNP/other far right voters, or not. Those denialists can sit in a circle and hold hands and sing kumbayah to each other, or flip the bird to progressives if they prefer, but it won’t change this hard reality.
For the rest of us, we need to get as many of those people on board with addressing climate change as possible, because I have kids and I want them to have kids who’ll inherit a world worth inhabiting.
The relative cost of renewables will deny the coal loving kumbayahists over time.
I’m certain the coal lovers aren’t for conversion to anything other than a return for their pocket.
