The fortnightly Roy Morgan poll has the Coalition nudging into second place with a two-point gain to 23.5%, while One Nation is down one-and-a-half to 22.5%. Labor is steady on 26% and the Greens have gained half a point to 15.5%. Labor holds respondent-allocated two-party leads of 55-45 over One Nation, out from 54.5-45.5, and 52.5-47.5 over One Nation, in from 53-47. Labor’s two-party lead over the Coalition on previous election preference flows is in from 53.5-46.5 to 53-47. The poll was conducted October 12 to 25 from a sample of 2711. The full release features breakdowns for the five mainland states.
We’re also about due for a monthly Essential Research poll – if so, details are likely available on The Guardian and/or the pollster’s website by the time you’re reading this.
I was so busy yesterday I missed Bolsonato losing. Great work from Brazil and a great rebuke of the US interference in their government, and a rebuke of the idiot son of the dumb father.
If those in the federal liberal party will not replace Angus Taylor as leader, its likely his electorate will kick him out
Angus Taylor has been elected for 13 years it will be 15 years at the 2028 federal election , will his electorate decide time on his career. The liberal party voters seem not to care whether Taylor is leader or not , like with Howard,Abbott,Dutton if the voters think thier candidate and party not changing they will vote them out.
Taylor like Dutton have not many new policies to offer, and will remain out of government, time for a change in the electorate

David Shoebridge at the NPC on Wednesday, don’t miss it folks
Thanks. I suspect we are not all that far apart.
From The Guardian
Another tiny arrow into the heart of our great democracy.
HBG
It makes me want to join the AJA in order do give Shoebridge a real question… one that would make it difficult for Shoebridge to do the infamous Shoebridge Soft Shoe Shuffle.
When the Right in this country outsources all its thinking to its counterparts in the US, of course they are going to import the US’s violent political culture as well.
At the NPC today, I do hope someone asks Shoebridge whether:
a. he has reconsidered his opposition to sending military aid to Ukraine, and
b. he is sorry for how he addressed Australians in the ethnic Ukrainian community here with a political threat: “Don’t burn your bridges, you need allies”
It was interesting that Hastie called out MAGA yesterday, banking on a blue wave?
Hopefully it works out
These are not exceptions. The Albanese governments are the first to systematically and deliberately open senior appointments to women across the board.
Inter alia, these appointments are why Australia has been lifted on the global gender gap ranking from 43rd to 8th.
And what do we get from the conga line of Get Albo slaggers?
Based on a report by Tess Ikonomou in The Guardian:

New Nebraska polling must have Republicans husking their corn….
https://concordpublicopinionpartners.org/polls/nebraska-ge-2026
Coalition has unveiled $30bn in cuts – things like help to buy and haff, satisfied that a caste system IS what australia needs, and doubling down on labors ndis cuts, because why pay for preventative healthcare when much more expensive emergency care is just as good?
Labor of course has criticised these plans, saying the cuts do not go far enough. Labor, continuing it’s tradition of mid-term surprises will unveil it’s own suite of cuts in december – perhaps the sweeping APS redundancies will no longer be voluntary, maybe they’ll double down on having robots do all eligibility assessments for social security payments. Buckle up, labors about to spin the wheel of losers.
Ooooh look what Charlie just did…
He slagged the Coalition in order to slag Labor.
A cunning plan, Charlie. Very cunning.
The Greens plan for Lt Gen Susan Coyle is exactly the same as their plan for Ukraine: to leave her with some sticks, stones and words with which to defend Australia.
charlie
‘Labor of course has criticised these plans, saying the cuts do not go far enough’
Source? Because I think you’re making this up.
Charlie is lying for the good of humanity. Again.
This story is really interesting.
https://www.dailymail.com/debate/article-16234057/fake-polls-democrats-election-threat-investigation.html
(I assume that, like me, most of you are not Daily Mail subscribers. However, I was able to find the full article through my msn feed.)
What the article says is that the impacts of Wedgewood’s fabrications were not scattergun, but concentrated in particular contests. In particular, they appear to have boosted the chances of a number of far left candidates running in Democrat primaries (including El-Sayed), and possibly also to have encouraged the Dems to waste campaign funding on a race in Mississippi they had no realistic chance of winning.
Hmmm…
PS : I forgot to include this quote from the article.
…just did a quick search and can’t find ANY response from Labor to the Coalition’s announcement yesterday.
The ABC article does refer to comments Chalmers made before the announcement, where he says that there will be cuts in the budget update in December but he certainly does not say he will cut spending on climate or the NDIS.
Obviously he made no comment at all about the Coalition’s plan, as he hadn’t seen it yet.
Treasurer Jim Chalmers said the cuts would not cover other spending promises made by Taylor, including lifting defence expenditure to 3 per cent of GDP and reversing the budget’s tax changes to capital gains, trusts and negative gearing.

MB Trump went to Mississippi so maybe where there’s smoke, there’s fire?
Definitely a long shot though
From the ABC website a story that includes the line “the more they work the more of their age pension they lose” and that business lobby groups support them in their complaint
IF you are fully self funded courtesy of superannuation accruals and an allocated pension, if you earn income apart from that tax free allocated pension you pay tax on that income given the amount earned is over the $18,200- tax threshold (and that taxable income can be from interest earned, dividends AND remuneration from a work place)
The Aged Pension, paid by government (so taxpayers) is paid away by government based on a strict regime as it should be, to support those reliant on government (taxpayer) support to live to a community acceptable level, so able to meet the basics
The Age Pension is not an entitlement to all upon reaching a certain age – it is a safety net dependent on individual circumstances (noting the couple who are the source of the article, in their 70’s, still carry a home mortgage debt so what have they done with their money across their working lives?)
A compliant that by earning from employment post retirement age and what you earn from that employment reduces your Aged Pension amount is just not a supportable compliant – noting the support from business groups obviously eying from the angle that if the government pay business can pay less, with subsidy from government
Noting those in “small business” feature in another article complaining about pay day superannuation, wages increases, bans on credit charge surcharges and amendments to Trust (tax minimisation) legislation are pressuring their businesses (but no mention of GST compliance, I wonder why not?)
At the core of these never ending complaints is self interest including paying less tax (a relief not available to PAYG employees except by negative gearing and we know about the complaints there!!)
But their complaints, driven by self interest and their pockets versus subsidy from government, are the headline (even at the ABC)
The old story was that if you earn it you pay it (tax)
Noting the Coalition is promoting reducing taxes (as always) funded by cutting spending on public amenity (IPA agenda who also rail against climate change as a fact)
We live in a time of whingers and no analysis past the whinging – so why are these whingers impacted when rhe very great majority are not?
Where are the stories of those living the rewards for a life of ambition, that ambition achieved?
It is hard to take this sort of stuff seriously.
Green Turtles have a global distribution that numbers at least a quarter of a million individuals.
https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2026/oct/27/endangered-turtles-and-exceptional-coral-at-risk-from-woodsides-gas-drilling-in-wa-watchdog-says
The two things that are a huge risk for Green Turtles are rising sea levels flooding nesting islands and temperature changes altering the sex ratio balance. The main drivers for that are coal burning in China, India and Indonesia. The truly excellent thing is that the Greens plan to stop Australian coal exports by 2040.

Can’t access the article, and the bit you quote doesn’t prove your previous assertion.

And what do we get from Albo.
Tit jokes and details on his sex life.
“I can’t access an article, therefor it doesn’t exist”. Stellar.
Either way the extract is what gives effect to the claim. Chalmers says that the cuts are insufficient to cover the cost of some proposed spending (including some as yet unlegislated rate hikes), expressing the belief that all new spending must be met with commensurate cuts. The cuts, says chalmers, do not go deep enough.
Treasurer Jim Chalmers has also refused to put a cap on near-record government spending, so one can reasonably infer sizeable cuts to be promised in time for christmas.
What we get from the Prime Minister is what we get from a human being – a mixed bag. All you see is tits and bums one liners. I see a more complicated picture. This includes seeing that women have been massive beneficiaries of the two Albanese governments.
So charlie is being a bad faith actor who makes up lies in order to slag Labor?
HBG
I wouldn’t want to say too much without any proof. But, if the author of the Daily Mail article is correct that the impacts of the fake polling give the appearance of having been targeted rather than random, then we have to assume that there was some sort of deliberate intention behind it. The author of the article has provided four possible motives. Take your pick of which one you feel is the most likely (but probably best keep it to yourself for now, rather than risk getting William into trouble).
The author also makes the good point that the timing of the exercise is suspicious: if it was simply an experiment, as its perpetrators have claimed, then why do it right in the middle of a major election period?
I think we are likely to hear a lot more about this story going forward.
mb
The cover story is not at all credible.

Is jim chalmers a liar? Or does he intend to make cuts to cover the cost of the labor governments new spending?
charlie
I did not say the article does not exist.
Obviously you have comprehension problems.
You stated that Labor’s response to the Coalition’s pledge to cut Help to Buy, Haff, the NDIS and climate change was to pledge to cut these areas even further.
Either you worded yourself clumsily – and, because I know that happens, I often ask these kinds of questions so that the poster realises that that’s what’s happened, and can clarify what they mean – or you are being deliberately misleading.
Morning all. Boerwar the other excellent part of this announcement is that Defence is finally getting a procurement section with people in it who have technical skills in project delivery.
For two long management of major defence acquisition projects has been treated as a pre retirement sinecure for senior officers with no relevant skills or experience.
This should have happened in Marles’ first term but better late than never.

charlie
‘Is jim chalmers a liar? Or does he intend to make cuts to cover the cost of the labor governments new spending?’
I can’t make these judgements on the information you’ve supplied so far.
Yes, the government will make cuts to allow for new spending. The question – which we won’t know the answer to until December – is whether the new spending is worth the cuts.
Labor cut tax concessions to negative gearing to allow for more spending on housing, for example.
Yep. And the Blinkies will already be hard at work trying to figure out how to undermine it.
Indeed I did not say anything of the sort. You’ve built a lovely straw man, but I said that labor said the cuts don’t go far enough, that these proposed cuts are insufficient. And jim chalmers did say that.
Separately jim chalmers and labor have pledged their own suite of cuts to be announed around christmas.
And there was me thinking comprehension skills were important to you.
….keep digging your hole Charlie…
charlie
‘I said that labor said the cuts don’t go far enough, that these proposed cuts are insufficient. And jim chalmers did say that.’
So you did say what I said you said and no, Chalmers did not.
Chalmers’ comments were made BEFORE the Liberals announced their cuts, not in response to them.
It is good to see that Lambie is not letting Hanson do the usual shoot and run thing with respect to the One Nation’s prolapsed vagina viciousness.
charlie
‘Separately jim chalmers and labor have pledged their own suite of cuts to be announed around christmas.’
Yes, I said that.
I also said we don’t know what these cuts are, and what the money saved will be spent on, and we won’t know until December (which, I believe, is around Christmas).
MB – the rise of the left in the US will hopefully drive a blue wave although everyone is a bit nervous given what happened last time, speaking of which, this gave me a chuckle. History repeating lol

Still waiting on Essential, I’m expecting to see the Greens on 12 given they are usually a bit lower with them. Will the LNP be above One Nation? Lets hope so. Labor sub 25? Maybe
Time for work, enjoy your Tuesday folks
If those stalling revenue measures in the Labor budget stop doing so, Chalmers won’t have to make any spending cuts or introduce other revenue measures.
The spending in the budget was covered by the revenue measures. That is called responsible management. Political opponents of Labor want to keep the new spending measures, ditch the means to pay for it, and imagine everything will be fine. No pressure on debt or interest rates. It’s delusional.
Chalmers comments were made in response to the 30bn cuts announced. Chalmers says the cuts don’t go far enough. Chalmers will announce new cuts in addition to his cuts to the ndis and cuts to the aps in december.
I have sourced the claim. Saying nuh uh does not make it so, and given were throwing the word around liberally makes you a liar.
Thanks, Hh
I can see the UK and France doing the veto on a Security Council recommendation of Orban to the General Assembly.
China had quite close relations with Orban in power so it might just quietly let Trump and Putin run with Orban to see what happens.
I am sure that the Greens’ reliance on the UN for Australia’s security can only be boosted by having Orban as Sec Gen.
HH thanks for the international roundup. Speaking of delusions, Trump and Putin have said some whoppers:

It is easy to copy and paste the information which proves your point.
You haven’t done so.
I’m sorry I don’t have a subscription to the AFR and therefore can’t read the article myself.
‘Chalmers will announce new cuts in addition to his cuts to the ndis and cuts to the aps in december.’
The Libs were proposing additional cuts to the NDIS (not the ones which have already happened), so Chalmers having already made cuts doesn’t support your claim.
