ReachTEL: 53-47 to Labor

ReachTEL turns in a result that is nicely in line with the overall trend, and finds Palmer United coming down hard.

The latest monthly ReachTEL automated phone poll of federal voting intention for the Seven Network ticks a point in Labor’s favour, putting their two-party lead bang on BludgerTrack at 53-47. The biggest mover on the primary vote is Palmer United, who have slumped from 5.1% to 3.1%, with Labor up 1.2% to 38.7%, the Coalition up 0.1% to 40.2% and the Greens down 0.4% to 11.1%. Also featured are leadership ratings and attitudinal results on the G20 and, entertainingly, whether Jacqui Lambie should leave the Palmer United Party (43.4% yes, 17.6% no).

[…the iron ore crash returns today with RIO and BHP at the verge of new 2014 lows, down the better part of 2% and retracing much of yesterday’s short squeeze. FMG is down 6%. ….Dalian iron ore futures have slumped again, down 2.3% to new lows at 465, roughly $60.]

    Ferro-dollars erode…

  2. Gee wizz Good Old Kero Head is earning her protection money today.

The lying combover kid is really starting to lose it… stuttering and stammering.

C’mon Madame Speaker, lift his spirits.

I hope the poddle gets a question on his petition before time is called.

  3. One of the many Lambie ‘spurts’ I heard this morning was her ‘calling’ for Tones to meet with her via the Press.

Obviously having one of her staff simply ring the PMO never occurred.

  4. Pyne is doing ‘Teh evil CMFEU’, you know, the ones who dragged the bricks off those students killed by Grocon’s (?) wall.

  5. I am not currently watching QT, but this observation from The Geek

[Interesting how the dynamics have changed. Abbott now sounding like a LOTO by trying to hold Shorten to account as PM-in-Waiting. #qt]

I agree that she had done nothing wrong and personally I think those who pushed this issue failed to adequately convey that she was completely above reproach.
Fortunately Newman’s legal team did not push this line and no doubt, wisely, they screened her from adopting it.
If you want to surrender any chance of escaping the recording of a conviction, there is no better way than saying I am guilty but I am not really guilty.]

Pages back but I meant that the Abbott girl did nothing wrong – if your dad is rich and / or powerful you get advantages – had always been so will always be so.

The only comment I have made recently on the other girl is that I think the court got the outcome right:

The ABC cuts have gone down very poorly in SA. Pyne must be copping some heavy flak and his ridiculous petition was a futile attempt to avoid a major hit.

“@Tony_Burke: As of today Bronwyn Bishop has kicked out more MPs than any other Speaker in the history of the Parliament. #qt #auspol”

It seems that Bill’s taunt over the despatch box that Abbott will find out what Labor will do for the ABC when ‘we’re in government’upset Tony somewhat. Bill is getting too cheeky for Tone’s liking.

It’s not entirely Pyne’s own brainfart. The entire government is running the line that while they cut the funds, the ABC decided the content, and did so poorly, because there was all this fat around they could have cut instead.

It’s typical of this government to try have it both ways. THey want to destroy the ABC and they want to convince people to blame the ABC for it. Pyne just laid it on thicker than the rest of them.

  14. Diog I must say your continued defence of Abbott in the $60 k undeclared gift to his daughter is surprising.

I trust you’d take the same view If SA Labor members families get $60 k of value from a participant in a sector with its hand out for govt money and gets it.

In the end, I think the public esp in rural areas who are most affected, won’t really care whether there was fat or other services to cut; they will just be upset at the outcome and will blame the government. For people who don’t watch or listen to the ABC, the fat argument will probably help limit damage to Abbott but I think yet again he has made a bad political mistake by sucking up to the IPA/Bolts of this world.

Abbott chooses to list Frances on his register as a Dependant Child. If she’s not, he can take her off but if she is he can’t pick and choose what to include.
