ACNielsen: 56-44

Tasmanian reader Blackbird informs us that according to the ABC news (which goes to air earlier in Tasmania because daylight saving has already begun there), tomorrow’s ACNielsen poll will show Labor with a two-party lead of 56-44, down from 57-43 last month. More details to follow.

UPDATE: Labor’s primary vote is down two points from last month to 47 per cent, while the Coalition is up one to 40 per cent. There were further attitudinal questions which you can read all about at The Age and the Sydney Morning Herald.

  1. Take care, Mad Dog’s Wife 318

    I’m disconcerted that the site doesn’t get a guernsey under the drugs in sport program. Could handle a little pork barrelling if we are looking for a cure!

  2. On the Their ABC tack(y), should have heard Matt and Dave on SA local radio 891 getting stuck into Kevin Rudd over the holiday house stuff.

    Spun and spun it, tried it on Tony Wright, who had the grace not to buy in, then carried it on with their weekly spot featuring Chris Schott and Christopher (gasp) Pyne.

    Shameful. Running the disingenuous line they tried about Therese Rein over the old stuff..are we heading for American style politics, only the ultra rich get a go. Numerous callers, not me, rang in about Kirribilli.

    I wonder if they think there should be an income ceiling for Labor voters.

    Yes, that is Matt Abraham.

  3. the mediawatch show also pointed out that the 3 commercial networks ran the story as though all the footage shown, happened during a sudanese gang rampage.

    however the violence was mainly from Islanders. the gang was of mixed race, Sudanese, Islanders and Whites.
    the footage of the stealing was from a seperate night of a single Sudanese man shoplifting 1 bottle of Scotch.
    and the attendant who was interviewed said it was an Islander woman that threw a bottle at him although the news networks implied that it was a Sudanese.

    also the y highlighted the sudanese guy that got killed being in the bottleshop on that night. But they failed to mention that 2 white guys have been charged with murdering him.

    pfftttt…..standard commercial tabloid news standards.

    btw…heard from lil pumpkin lately??????

  4. Yeah, I’d forgotten about the Paul Osbourne Independents – thanks for reminding us, Pedant. Yeah well, that tars Mr. Uhlman as being not only a right winger – but a rightwinger with very poor judgment! Though, his example should give hope to Ms. Mckew… see you can get politically active and return to the ABC – hell! even get a promotion!

    {Anybody watching Media Watch }

    I can’t get the ABC on TV and have to rely on on-line reports.
    Looking up the Media Watch site though, I was disturbed to read this;

    {2GB’s Alan Jones lobbied for weeks for Hunter Valley horse breeders: people he said weren’t millionaires and who were being hit hard by restrictions to control horse flu.

    In the end he won, and the government eased restrictions on moving horses during the critical breeding season.

    Good news for Alan Jones, who hadn’t told listeners he part-owns a stallion in the Hunter Valley that could make fifty million dollars a year, so long as there’s no restrictions in the way.}

    Looks like Howard’s friend, Alan Jones can get special treatment at the expense of everyone else in the “horse” industry.

  6. Well, the Climate Change Coalition is running candidates, so it’s not exactly non-partisan. Some have suggested (given Philip Adams’ connections) that is an ALP front to draw votes away from the Greens. I hope someone in the ALP is that clever, but I’ve not seen that confirmed.

  7. [Well, the Climate Change Coalition is running candidates, so it’s not exactly non-partisan. ]

    I actually meant how the ad is presented, there is no Vote for X candidate/Party message.

    [Some have suggested (given Philip Adams’ connections) that is an ALP front to draw votes away from the Greens. I hope someone in the ALP is that clever, but I’ve not seen that confirmed.]

    I reckon it will draw those small l Liberals who wouldn’t want to vote ALP, but a scared of the Greens “Hippy” image and policies.

  8. Snakeboy @ 598: “Hey lom…Paul Osborne was a front row forward for the Canberra Raiders who then turned his sights on politics. His was of the fundamentalist conservative variety, as I recall.”

    Hmm. Comes as no great surprise. Thanks, Snakeboy.
