The Herald Sun has a DemosAU/Premier National poll that provides the most distinctive Victorian state result yet in having Labor at just 18%, a seven-point dive since the last such poll in September. This puts them not only behind One Nation, who are up a point to 21%, but only one point clear of the Greens, who are up three to an unprecedented 17%. The Coalition is up three to 33%, and its two-party lead over Labor has blown out from 52-48 to 56-44.
Ben Carroll’s personal ratings are 17% positive (down six), 36% neutral (down four) and 47% negative (up 10), while Jess Wilson is at 38% (up five), 37% (down five) and 25% (steady), Warren Pickering is at 23% (up one), 34% (down four) and 43% (up three). Also included for the first time are results for Ellen Sandell, who is at 18% positive, 44% neutral and 38% negative. Jess Wilson’s head-to-head lead over Ben Carroll on preferred premier is at 48-30, while a three-way measure has Wilson on 36%, Carroll on 28% and Pickering on 19%. The poll was conducted last Friday to Thursday from a sample of 1562.
Is that an ALL TIME record low primary vote for Labor in /any/ credible state or federal poll?
“Dire” doesn’t do it justice. I’m not even sure they’d be the Opposition on those numbers…
The next government in Victoria appears to have been decided with only the loose ends to be determined at the completion of counting.
I’m somewhat dubious about a largely unknown identity becoming Premier and a majority Liberal Party insisting it will “fix” all without actually stating its intentions.
Victoria like everywhere has been impacted by factors outside Australia’s control.
The voters are in for a term of government blaming a largely progressive twelve years of Labor,.
Ironically the fact that Labor achieved so much will make it easier for a new government.
The fate of a very excited Greens looks somewhat destined to be hobbled by a very conservative Liberal mob, hardly inclined to further their Green agenda.
The landing point of the intellectual giants” from the PHON brigade is very unclear as is their policy direction. PHON representatives will do their best to be disagreeable.
The new government may have the good fortune to benefit from improving international considerations that will assist it in whatever it intends to achieve.
The public media will celebrate their success in contorting the results of this election, however their long term existence remains in doubt.
Perhaps after a number of years a larger groundswell of support for a larger Dan Andrews image will emerge.
The reality may see some of Victoria’s most disadvantaged and financially deprived remain so.
A most interesting few years are ahead after a political lucky dip!
Damn, tough numbers to look at as a Labor supporter. Wheels have come off. Will be over soon. People just want a change of government and will go wherever they can for it.
At this point numbers would have started to contaminate federal Labor’s results too which we have been seeing in subsamples to some extent.
Demos is the new freshwater , this poll doesnt make sense on number of points
If Labor lost 7%
The Victorian Lib/nats can still not get over 34% , the lib/nats will remain in opposition .
Labor sub 20 (insert shocked face)
Scott, nothing to see here lol
Looks like the cricket bats are out now. Bring back Jacinta
I guess the hope is that the Greens can become the official opposition but the Liberals are heading for a big majority on these numbers
It’s a Jessami
