Herald Sun Deakin poll

The Herald Sun has published a poll of 314 respondents from the marginal eastern Melbourne seat of Deakin, based on “polling research conducted by Anne Wright, Peter Varley, Amelia Harris and Zoe Harrison”. I take this to mean that four cadets were lumbered with the task of ringing round the electorate. The poll shows Labor candidate Mike Symon with a commanding primary vote lead over Liberal member Phil Barresi, of 45 per cent to 38 per cent. This roughly translates into a 55-45 win for Labor from a swing of 10 per cent.
