  1. Also the most competent State government and Premier in Australia. A few own goals including LIV Golf and the Adelaide Writers Week. But overall Malinauskus has run the state effectively and the economy well.

  2. The anti-trans Bill proposed by Bernardi’s Orange Terrors also got knocked down in the Legislative Council last night, which should help put that distraction to bed for the remainder of this Parliament. A good week for Labor in SA.

  3. To be fair to Hurn, people generally are very satisfied with the Government, no Opposition Leader is going to cut through that – especially with an existential threat from one of their flanks as well as a damaging internal cultural battle.

That said, I think we can put to bed the idea of her being the Liberals’ secret weapon as we’ve so often heard since 2022. One cannot predict the future and never say never, of course, but the framing of her as some sort of future Premier-in-waiting, seems to have been way too premature and overconfident.

  4. South Australian Labor has to be the strongest branch of the Labor party in current day politics.

They routinely run and ran 10% ahead of federal Labor in 2024, 2025, and so far in 2026 (38.5% average across the 3 post election polls since the 2026 state election vs 27.7% average for federal Labor on BludgerTrack).

Not only that, but they also have by far the most popular state premier in the nation right now as their leader.

  5. Factors for this trend

    1) Malinauskas is only in his second term which ironically has a lot of momentum on getting policies done
    2) As other stated, Ashton Hurn is literally another Susana Ley, being terrible at communicating.
    3) Probably the most vital, appeals to certain conservatives so in return, there isn’t a massive far-right misinformation algorithms meaning it does not get transmitted to the mainstream with a flood negative news coverage unlike Victoria.

  6. Wat, you would think after the Voice loss, the rise of one nation, the positive public reaction to Minns shutting down muslim protests and Crisafuli banning pro-terrorist hate speech that the Greens Political Party would think “hmm, maybe we shouldn’t be in full throated support of Hamas or continue to conflate Israel with all Jewish people”.

I’ve seen repeated comments for a while now with posters wondering why the Greens are stuck around 1o%. It’s because of that.

The only mistake made about the Adelaide Writers’ Festival was apologising and inviting Fattah back next year. Her facebook paraglider cover, a clear reference to the terrorist massacre of 378 people at the Nova music festival should have got her banned from any publicly funded appearance or grant for the rest of her life.
