GhostWhoVotes reports a Galaxy poll of state voting intention in Queensland has the LNP government’s two-party preferred lead at 57-43, up from a relatively weak 55-45 at the last such poll in February. The LNP is up a point on the primary vote since February to 44% while Labor is down two to 32%, with results for minor parties still to come. Campbell Newman’s lead over Labor’s Annastacia Palaszczuk as preferred premier is up from 52-31 to 55-29. UPDATE: The Greens and Katter’s Australian Party are both on 8%. Newman’s approval rating is up two to 44% and his disapproval is down two to 50%, while Palaszczcuk is down two to 33% and steady on 39%.
I also never got around to observing last month’s contentiously enormous ReachTEL poll conducted for the public service union Together Queensland, targeting no fewer than 36,000 respondents. You can pick through localised results breakdowns here.
UPDATE: And now there’s a ReachTEL poll to add to the Queensland glut, showing the LNP down 0.5% on last month to 44.6%, Labor down one to 28.2%, Katter’s Australian Party down 2.3% to 10.4%, the Greens up 1.3% to 9.0% and others up 2.4% to 7.8%. Queensland polling being as abundant as it is, I’ve made the effort to compile poll trends for all ReachTEL, Newspoll and Galaxy polling over the current term. Results are weighted so that the combined impact of the 11 results from ReachTEL is the same as the three each from Newspoll and Galaxy. Black represents the combined “others” vote – I have not treated Katter’s Australian Party separately as Newspoll seems to be having trouble measuring their support.
Also interesting that 49% support the flood proofing levy with 45% opposed.

The Flood Recovery Levy passed the Parliament on 22 March 2011. The bill passed the Australian House of Representatives with government support by Andrew Wilkie, Bob Katter, Tony Crook, and Adam Bandt.
The Liberal/National Coalition Opposition opposed the bill.
The bill proceeded to the Senate, with Family First Senator Steve Fielding and independent Nick Xenophon supporting the proposal. Under a deal with Senator Xenophon, the government will rewrite the terms of the Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements to ensure state and territory governments take out disaster insurance or establish an equivalent fund.
Queenslanders would prefer the uncaring insensitive Federal LNP that opposed the flood levy to help re-build the state.
Even more interesting is the contradiction between what voters say about privatisation & who they would vote for. It just shows voters don’t understand the simple principle that you get what you vote for.
Or perhaps they are intelligent enough to look past the union scare campaign Mike.

As the Courier Mail states this poll may be short lived as the LNP tries to grapple with the Budget in 2 weeks time, forecast deficit out by $4.5 billion.

The word has gone out to sell all Qld State owned land, and do it before June. Just watch the sales happening, there will be a lot of public outcry over some high profile sites which will be like white noise and cover the bulk of the sell offf.

That’s only six days away, but yes I have seen community protests at school ovals being sold. I don’t think anyone has bought anything yet.
I meant before the end of June. Sorry. The old Dept which has reduced from 40 staff to only 6 have been given the directive meawhile a new Dept has been established. We only know that the reported school sales have not happened, I am trying to get details of any other land sales.
