Another (long) weekend off

Keen-eyed observers will have noticed that things at Crikey haven’t been functioning quite as smoothly over the past few days as they might have been. An elite unit of WordPress consultants has been enlisted to deal with the matter over the coming days, and I am advised that considerable progress is being made. The issues involve teething problems with transferring Crikey’s complex tangle of software to our new servers, which have proved themselves to be remarkably fast and powerful on those occasions where the software has been behaving itself. The bad news is that while this work is performed, comments on Poll Bludger – which are responsible for a very large share of the pressure on the system overall – are going to have to remain in limbo. And that, I’m sorry to say, looks likely at present to continue until Monday evening. Apologies are once again offered for the inconvenience, and gratitude is once again extended for your understanding.
