Another federal poll showing Labor dominating the Coalition and One Nation at an historic peak.

The Financial Review has a RedBridge Group/Accent Research federal voting intention showing Labor with a 56-44 two-party lead, from primary votes of Labor 35%, Coalition 26%, Greens 13% and One Nation 17%. Leadership ratings inclusive of a neutral option have Anthony Albanese at 39% favourable and 38% unfavourable, Sussan Ley at 14% and 34%, Jim Chalmers at 22% and 27%, Pauline Hanson at 31% and 50%, Barnaby Joyce at 20% and 47%, Chris Bowen at 13% positive and 37% negative, and Tony Burke at 12% and 23%. A preferred prime minister question has Albanese on 41% and Ley on 12%, with 9% opting for neither and 25% for about the same.

Also featured are questions on the best party to handle key issues, which finds 28% favouring One Nation to handle the “rate of immigration”, compared with 20% for Liberal, 19% for Liberal and 6% for the Greens. Labor holds clear leads over the Coalition for the other five issues, from 28% to 23% on national security to 36% to 18% on health. The poll was conducted December 5 to 12 from a sample of 1012.

  1. @Bill:
“quit the tired old hackneyed technique of accusing anyone who disagrees with you of being a Jew hater just looking for an excuse to keep on hating.”

I didn’t do that at all.

Try quitting the tired old technique of accusing anyone who disagrees with you of supporting Netanyahu and war crimes.

There are absolutely people who wave the anti-Semitism flag when they mean anti-Israel.

I am not doing that and don’t do that.

You’re simply wrong to pretend anti-semitism is all backlash against Netanyahu (not that it should be ok anyway for people to attack all Jews because of that, but anyway) and that all the concerns about anti-semitism are really just defences of Israel.

  2. The shadow hanging over the Bondi Jewish attack and the Media’s determination to blame the PM for this event is profound.
It is estimated that 70,000+ Palestinians have been killed in Gaza since 2023.
The “antisemitism” arguments perhaps need to be scrutinized and some media organisations and their representatives need to be distinguishing very clearly between outrageous commentary and facts.
This very sad and unnecessary act by two crazy people has taken on a many faceted persona that has no reasonable objectives other than to provide fodder for a media cohort altogether disassociated from reality.
The aggrandization of self interest is being extracted from the tentacles of a convoluted and seemingly endless conflict in the ME.
I would suggest that the response of the PM at this early stage in the aftermath of the senseless atrocity is entirely appropriate.
Time is the only remedy for this shocking event.

  3. Talking to my daughter about Bondi, she is angry with the PM for not stating the bleeding obvious, the attack was an attack on all of us. She pointed to the Jacinda Ardern response to the Christchurch Massacre to how it should be done. The behavior of the press and the opposition left her in despair.

  4. It’s difficult to believe that a smart politician like Albo is deliberately keeping out of the media, when every communications adviser worth their salt would be demanding that he needs to be front and centre. With Jodie by his side: she’d be such an asset right now.

Have the Jewish community told him he’s not welcome because of the recognition of Palestine? What’s going on? Does anybody know? It’s rather bewildering.

  5. I think in a very twisted way the events at Bondi have actually brought people together and realise the need to stop escalating violence and try and find ways to stabilise and work towards enduring peace.

  6. Team Katich @ 4.20pm
I’ll raise your best all-rounder by two.
    Keith Miller & Richie Benaud.
Match winners, consistently with both bat and ball.

  7. Congratulations, Alex Carey.
So great to see Alex Carey compile a masterful century for Australia.
The inaugural GWS Giants Captain certainly accepted and followed the advice of coach. Kevin Sheedy, that as a footballer he was a better cricketer.
Thanks Kevin for your service to two great Australian sports.
Now it is time for GWS’ Number One ticket holder, Mitchell Starc to demolish the England batters.

  8. my two bob’s worth on bondi

    four persons/bodies responsible

    1) apparently amazing lapse of security by ASIO
    2) the offenders (what are their motivations, support, background)
    3) those in the jewish community who thought it a good idea to hold a 1500 outdoor insecure event with quasi political overtones (we have survived) after the annus horribilis of gaza and all the security normally given (esp by govt) and sought by this community
    4) the nsw police for not controlling at least securing the event

i’m alarmed at the discourse fog going on – little mention of israel or gaza or war crimes, this is example of random acts of generalised anti semitic hatred. if the israeli govt or backer here think they are going to score propaganda points out of this they are mistaken

Happen to think govt doing good job at moderating difficult landscape – the opposition would trigger more social division and violence
