The monthly Freshwater Strategy poll for the Financial Review (presently available online in the paper’s subscriber-only digital edition) records no change of consequence on voting intention, with the Coalition maintaining a 51-49 lead on two-party preferred, with Labor steady on the primary vote at 30%, the Coalition down one to 40% and the Greens up one to 14%. Anthony Albanese is down two on approval to 33% and up one on disapproval to 50%, while Peter Dutton is steady on 37% and up two to 41%. Albanese’s lead as preferred prime minister shifts from 44-43 to 43-42.
The poll also finds 55% believe the world will be less safe with Donald Trump as President, compared with 28% for safer, and that 47% consider Peter Dutton “better placed to engage and negotiate” with Trump, compared with 36% for Anthony Albanese. The poll was conducted Friday to Sunday from a sample of 1046.

At least Australia is at long last going beyond 2% of GDP on the AUDoD, not just trade and diplomacy
I wonder if it does any good to respond to the hyerbowl in Irenes post.
If Irene is working in the child protection field, they deserve all the understanding and emotional support we can give. It’s a horror story.
But I really believe that only cultures in which children are raised by the whole village will ever raise up all children to be the best they can be.
Pie in the sky Irene until in the future, there will be few enough babies that they will be valuable.

Low-mid 40% is it now? Up from your usual 40%
You will be at 50% before you know it.
—————–
The way lib /nats propaganda media units have been attacking Labor , you could be right , they may be expecting the federal lib/nats combined primary vote to be closer to 50%
Did someone put Jones into a chaff bag?
Taylormade,
I think it’s the neg 17 netsat on Freshwater which has stirred things up a bit.
This follows on from last weeks neg 15 netsat in Newspoll.
My thoughts with all this national 40-41 % primary chitter chatter for the LNP.
Yes, there have been several recent polls where the LNP has topped 40%.
But pls keep in mind the state breakdowns, via the bludgertrack poll data tab.
In QLD, the last 4 LNP primaries have been as follows…
* Nov-9 Resolve : 43%
* Oct-5 Resolve : 42%
* Sep-20 Newspoll : 43%
* Sep-19 YouGov : 46%
This suggests that the “National LNP primary” may be locked up to an extent in QLD, meaning where the LNP needs to pick up seats, their primary is probably lower. I suspect this is scott’s logic too, but he can speak for himself.
We should have a Redbridge poll soon, and this outfit usually publishes state breakdowns. A good read.
Per YouGov – They’re coming up to 9 weeks since their last poll.
Link for YouoGov is here, if anyone wishes to monitor.

Thorpe managed to miss her very own Senate Censure motion and blames everyone else for not being there.
But rest easy.
She has promised us another 3.5 years of her decolonizing Australia.
When you stand for nothing except being “less shit” than your opponents, you lose to them.
I see that The Squeal Teal Gazette is perpetuating some of the Palmer/Squeal Teal misrepresentations on the electoral Bill.
It turns out that the Teals will double their public funding per vote. Just like Labor. Just like the Liberals.

True.
Dutton is working hard on his Trumpian being more shit than anyone else.
It is working fine for him.
Except in the abortion domain.
He is in real trouble there. The Christians have him by the short and curlies.

If you are living in Palestine, Syria, Iraq, even Ukraine ( 12,000 deaths, 24,000 injured) in recent times. And others such as Iran in the 1950’s, Chile in the 1970’s, North Korea in the 1950’s, Vietnam in the 1960’s and 1970’s, plus many more you have not been safe with US Presidential choices to attack or initiate coups, with the resultant deaths and destruction, since WWII.
This study is only based on Australian views, far removed from those who have experienced the might and destruction of US weapons and the total immunity from any criticism or judgements from the International Criminal Court.
Of course Trump like Biden approves genocide in Palestine, may do something about Iran’s religious government, but hopefully will not initiate any more wars.
First time a US Presidential candidate since WWII has been not pro war. Trump, being a 5 times draft dodger during the Vietnam war, may give an indication of his views about sending young people to the battlefield.
Did President Clinton have similar views?

The Iranian Government is avowedly genocidal. It wants to push the Jews into the sea.
Xi, Kim, Putin and Khamenei are supporting each other in trying to destroy Ukrainian democracy.
Trump 1 had to be restrained by the US military when he wanted to invade Iran.
Trump 2 has progressive dementia.
Trump 2 has surrounded himself with extremist and/or batshit crazy appointments.
Trump 2’s advisors are working on setting up a Trump committee to control the US armed forces.
Trump 2 is a malignant narcissist.
Trump 2 will stop the wars in Gaza, Lebanon, the Red Sea and Ukraine on Day 1.

Caroline Kennedy is today’s guest of the NPC. Given that she’ll probably be recalled soon, it will be interesting to see if she speaks critically of her nutty cousin, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and, of course, Trump. Being a diplomat, though, she’ll likely be diplomatic.

Caroline Kennedy wont be recalled. For the very good reason that she announced that she was already stepping down in January 25 early this year.

The Extreme Greens demanded a climate trigger. This is inconsistent with a core Albanese promise during the last elections. So Bandt and Dutton managed to team up to stop all biodiversity reforms.
So now the Extreme Greens have dropped the climate trigger. They are now demanding instead an end to forest clearing in Australia. Also impossible.
And so on an so forth for 30 pieces of legislation in the Senate.
Make no mistake. Dutton and Bandt are setting out to wreck the joint a la Trump with Biden’s Border Bill.

SA Opposition leader Vincent Tarzia says any Liberal MP who introduces another abortion bill to parliament “won’t be welcome in the shadow cabinet”, labelling the issue a “distraction” in the wake of the party’s loss at the Black by-election.
Tarzia spoke to ABC Radio Adelaide this morning after his party was reduced to just 13 seats in the Lower House over the weekend following Liberal candidate Amanda Wilson’s defeat at the Black by-election.
Saturday night’s count showed an extraordinary 13.3-point swing to Labor candidate Alex Dighton on two-party preferred, with the Liberal Party’s primary vote down 17.8 points.
The Electoral Commission will today begin counting the 8554 early votes cast in Black followed by postal votes on Wednesday. Early and postal votes represent around 38 per cent of enrolled voters in Black.

‘Australia politics live: Coalition accused of hypocrisy on immigration as it confirms it will oppose foreign student cap
Education minister Jason Clare has accused the opposition of hypocrisy in its campaign to lower immigration.’

Like Trump, Dutton WANTS too many migrants for his campaign fodder.
I don’t think this will go far, but good on Uncle Robbie Thorpe for trying. After all, First Nations people know a fair bit about genocide:
[‘Leading Israeli paper Haaretz recently caught wind of the fact that a private prosecution launched against Australian Israeli citizen Mark Regev by Krautungalung elder Uncle Robbie Thorpe in the Magistrates Court of Victoria appears to be the only such case related to a specific alleged offender to have gotten up that directly involves the now 13-month-long genocide being perpetrated in Gaza.
Regev was acting in the capacity of a senior adviser to Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu over June 2023 to April 2024, when he perpetrated acts in this country that Thorpe has identified as comprising the offence of advocating genocide and after applying to have the court to lay a charge against Regev’s name in April, a resulting charge sheet dated 14 August 2024 was issued.
Lawyer Daniel Taylor then arranged for the charge sheet to be served upon Regev in Israeli, where the former diplomat lives. And on becoming aware of this serious charge being progressed against one of its own in the Australian court system, the Israeli government directly went on to hire local legal representation to refute the charge, when the case first went before the court on 9 October.
“Speaking in front of the courthouse before the trial began,” Haaretz journalist Rachel Fink reported on 22 October, “Thorpe, who is a Krautungalung elder, told a crowd of supporters, ‘I find it offensive that this country that committed genocide against us is now allowing our country to be used as a base to advocate genocide against Palestinian people’.”
And the significance of this prosecution actually getting up cannot be overstated, as both Thorpe and Taylor have attempted to progress genocide cases in Australian courts in the past to no avail, while more broadly across the planet, legal eagles have been trying to prosecute an official in relation to the Gaza genocide, however, the difficulties involved in such cases have seen all others fail.’]

Irene @ 12:15 pm:
It would be interesting to hear your views of the Peoples Republic of China. Mao single handedly murdered people estimated from 15 to 40 million. According to Frank Dikötter, a chair professor of humanities at the University of Hong Kong and the author of Mao’s Great Famine, a book which details the Great Leap Forward and the consequences of the strong armed implementation of the economic reform, the total number of people who were killed in the famine which lasted from 1958 to 1962 ran upwards of 45 million. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mass_killings_under_communist_regimes.
The Great Leap forward wasn’t his only rodeo, he also did the Cultural Revolution. Fatality estimates vary across different sources, ranging from hundreds of thousands to millions, or even tens of millions.

Far worse is happening in Sudan, ATM, than anything happening in the ME. The main perps are islamist radicals.
Silence.
Iranian leaders for years have promoted genocidal vision for the Jews in Israel. Silence.
The Houthis are murdering innocent seamen on the High Seas. Silence.
Hamas unilaterally murdered around 1200 Israeli citizens – many of them children. Silence.
Heshbollah spent thirty years ignoring its previous Agreement, collecting 150,000 or so missiles and fortifying the area between the Litani R and the Israel/Lebanon border. It then unilaterally launched a massive armed attack on Israel. Silence.
None of the above justifies the behaviour of Israel. At all.
But the lack of balance is obvious.
Poor old P1. Lives off climate wrecking and cannot admit it. Can’t say a bad thing about the world’s biggest single coal burner. Can’t say a bad thing about Vanuatu rep’s rank hypocrisy.
