Newspoll: 51-49 to Labor

Scott Morrison recovers much of the ground he lost on personal approval in the last Newspoll, which as usual records little change on voting intention.

Courtesy of The Australian, the first Newspoll in four weeks has Labor leading 51-49, down from 52-48 last time, with similarly slight movement on the primary vote, with the Coalition up a point to 41%, Labor steady on 38%, the Greens down one to 10% and One Nation up one to 3%. Scott Morrison recovers much of the ground he lost on personal ratings in the last poll, being up four on approval to 59% and down three on disapproval to 37%, while Anthony Albanese is down three to 40% and up two to 43%, though these changes do not alter the general stability of his position over the longer term. Morrison now leads 56-30 on preferred prime minister, out from 52-32 in the last poll and identical to the result in the previous poll six weeks ago. The poll was conducted Wednesday to Saturday from a sample of 1514.

“If you are bored, try not responding. I won’t be offended.”

    …….

Common decency would suggest that if you are going to cut and paste a portion of another person’s post, you should only reference the part you have quoted.

It is a further affront, that you would do so in such a way that all context is removed, and then give a meandering, longwinded reply.

  6. Nath aka Michael was cherry picking the Essential earlier – now THIS is a cherry pick..

‘Women are abandoning the Morrison government in the wake of parliament’s #MeToo moment, with the latest Guardian Essential poll showing fewer than one in three giving their primary vote to the Coalition.

In mid-January the female primary vote peaked at 37% for the Coalition compared with 33% for Labor but, after months of damaging revelations about the government’s attitude towards women triggered by the mishandling of Brittany Higgins’ rape allegation, this has now collapsed to 31%. Labor’s primary vote among women is now 37%.

On a two-party-preferred “plus” basis, this gives the Coalition just 38% of the female vote, compared with 50% to Labor. Twelve per cent of women remain unsure. In mid-January the gap between the two parties was just three percentage points, with the Coalition marginally ahead of Labor among women, 47% to 44%.

  8. I blame Rational Leftist! Didn’t he say how great it was not to have to wake up every day and read about Donald Trump’s latest outrage? Well, guess who’s cranking up his rally machine again from next month!?! Yep. That guy.

  10. It’s great that Donald Trump is gone, that adults are now in charge of the USA, or at least its Federal Government.

The mini-Trumps are still in charge here, but at least they’ve lost a great wellspring of their mojo.

Boris Johnson is regarded as “untrustworthy” by six in 10 Britons and is being beaten on trust by Sir Keir Starmer, reveals an exclusive new poll that will set alarm bells ringing at 10 Downing Street.

The findings by Ipsos MORI in tonight’s Evening Standard will increase the alarm in Tory circles after weeks of leaks and allegations about sleaze.

With the Prime Minister battling claims about his conduct on several fronts, he is revealed to be trusted by just 35 per cent of voters and deemed untrustworthy by a clear majority of 59 per cent.

Labour leader Sir Keir is regarded as trustworthy by 42 per cent and not to be trusted by 41.

  23. Those whingeing about loss of the Edit function should try disregaging themselves from the obviously unstable and version-unreliable C-plus-whatever, try surviving in this hard world by eliminating the blocking function they loudly proclaim, open their ears and listen to the music of ideas and alternative viewpoints.

I have never blocked anyone, installed any filters, add-ons or plug-ins, bragged about how I don’t listen to certain others, or waxed lyrical on the virtues of being able to quote a long post with a single keystroke so that I can add a pithy but devastating 5-word riposte.

I know you think this blog is read by movers, shakers and policy makers, but it isn’t really. Notwithstanding William’s professionally set out articles at thread’s head, most of the stuff here is penny-ante political claptrap and humbuggery, ill thought out, trite in premise and consequence, tribally self-referencing, and meaningless in anything but the minutest of minute “Grand Schemes”.

So, if you want to be able to edit out your typos with the Edit function (which I, in my basic WordPress version of PB enjoy and have always enjoyed, uninterrupted), sharpen a point, correct grammar, or add something brilliant you hadn’t already included in your post: delete C, take the blinkers off your eyes, remove the memory foam plugs from your ears, and let the light shine in.

  24. Sociopaths have emotions. They lack the ability to feel or empathise with the emotions others around them are feeling. A good marketing man.

The psychopath shares this trait and also does not have a conscience. A good border security minister.
