New polls this week from Newspoll and Essential Research have moderated the post-coup surge to Labor on the BludgerTrack poll aggregate, on which Labor’s two-party lead has narrowed from 54.9-45.1 to 54.0-46.0. This results in a gain of three seats for the Coalition on the seat projection, with New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland furnishing one seat apiece. We’re approaching the point where I will have enough Morrison-era leadership ratings data to resume tracking those measures again, but for the time being it’s still in limbo. Full results from the link below.
BludgerTrack: 54.0-46.0 to Labor
The trendlines turn back slightly in the Coalition’s favour on the BludgerTrack poll aggregate, without lifting them out of landslide defeat territory.

“Religiously observant people live longer than atheists.”
That has to be just about the least scientific study I’ve ever seen.

Thanks Dio, much appreciated.
As I read that article:
The conclusion only applies to the US or other countries where public adherence to religion is the mainstream, and only within that country.
Comparing countries, adherence to religion is negatively correlated with longevity – e.g. Sweden and any country in sub-saharan africa which is deeply religious.
Growing old is synonymous with throwing away your deeply held beliefs, one by one.

What about the terrible waste of fully potential babies every time a human female has a period.
Wilful potential infanticide.
All that is needed is a spermatazoum.
Perhaps they should all get a priest to rape them. Or are priests only interested in little boys? What about the non-paedophile 60% of the St John of God lot, they might be in it.
How about you keep your particular brand of sky-fairy ‘moralising’ to yourself? You only invite ridicule. Go burn a witch instead, or excommunicate Galileo, or something else infallible.

Tina is still massive on YouTube. Just to think League was just a Sydney suburban game – and then came along Tina Turner…
Re halftime entertainment.
I can remember back in the distant past watching RL test matches from the Old Dart on the black and white TV. The halftime break was 10 minutes and 10 minutes was 10 minutes. (I still believe it to be 10 minutes in the modern game but how can you fit 15 minutes of ads into 10 minutes)
Anyhow back to my story. During these old test matches it was the usual practice to have some big pommy marching band trotting up and down the paddock as they belted out their tunes. Come 10 minutes and the Ref would be on the spot blowing his whistle for the game to recommence even if the Band were still on the field.
It was funny watching them double pace Benny Hill style to get out of the way.
Now that was real halftime entertainment.
The fact is that for all his posturing Greensborough Growler votes for abortion every time he votes for the ALP. So to do that and sit online saying this shit is a really terribly hypocrisy.
Oskeshott Country @ #1300 Sunday, September 30th, 2018 – 5:17 pm
Oh I see how the NRL failed with its pre-game entertainment. Clearly it needed to punt more semi-naked NRL players onto the stage with that black-clothed hipster nobody who had more hair than Tina Turner. THAT would’ve set the crowd alive.
“Bronze age death cult”?
Ignorance of history is only one of your errors.
In the near east, the iron age began over a 1000 years before Jesus was born.
He was not bronze age. But feel free to propogate your garbage if it makes you feel good.
Nath, that is.

When you make rhetorical posts does anyone give a fuck?
Bill Shorten is at the NRL GF – here with the women’s winners, Brisbane…

Yes I should have said Tina Turner with the arses and budgie smugglers of some Rugby League players
I think it was the NSWRL’s attempt to broaden its demographic to the girls and gays
Still Tina Turner did it for me
Womens RL comp my arse. !!!
The NRL denied the two strongest teams in the womens comp to participate in the inaugural competition. Made it a joke of a comp with only FOUR BLOODY TEAMS and said their decision for having only four sides (instead of a least 6 which they set out for originally)was a geographical decision.
It was and is total bullshit – those that know how the NRL decision makers work will probably know exactly where I am coming from.
@GG,
I do not agree with you about abortion, but I am glad that you still vote Labor.
Also, the good old broad Catholic Church has a range of opinions. A relative of mine was sitting on the Womens Electoral Council, along with a nun (some sort of joke should be the punchline, but is not). The Right-to-Life people left some literature, and to my relative’s surprise, the nun through it in the bin, saying she was not interested in reading anything by those ratbags.
Bill Shorten has again entered Tasmania’s election campaign, promising federal Labor would fund a public abortion clinic to avoid the need for women seeking low-cost terminations to travel to Victoria.

I got in trouble at St Peter Pheils when I asked the anti-abortion ratbags their view of the slaughter of innocents in the Vietnam War

Brilliant!!
I also note that the most anti-abortion fanatics in the US are the most pro- Capital punishment.
Meanwhile, the good old Catholic Church itself is toying with making it church position that Capital punishment is never justified.
That’s totally how it plays to me. 🙂

And GG’s wasn’t? The idea that the Roman church, (and for that matter, any ‘christian’ church), or any of their sheep, has any moral authority is ludicrous. Read the RC report, and cringe.
Oskeshott Country @ #1321 Sunday, September 30th, 2018 – 5:37 pm
I’ve often observed that the most fervently anti-abortion people are invariably in favour of the death penalty and anti gun reform.
@Steve777
Wot – that Nath believes Christianity is a Bronze Age death cult?
@Confessions
Snap. In the US, I think the fundamentalist RWNJ Christians think that guns are an important instrument for God to smite humans, by remote control.
I thought nath was puttingbthe cue in the rack?
Sydney all over Storm
I’m calling it for the Roosters.
“I’m calling it for the Roosters.”
So am I.
The Roosters are intimidating the Storm and should win fairly easily now.
GG was putting a fundamental belief of many religious people: that abortion is murder.
This might offend others but it is, for GG, a statement of fact.
The reasonable response that might offend GG is that it is not murder as a statement of fact.
Beyond that, IMO, the histrionic and rather nasty personal attacks on GG are simply not warranted.
Boerwar says:

_____________________
It can’t be that fundamental if he votes for a party that supports abortion and is actually planning to build abortion clinics. He seems to love Bill Shorten though, sparing his wrath for women. Pathetic.
It’s unfathomable to me, as well as incredibly hypocritical. But nothing out of the ordinary for religious elected members who choose to ram their beliefs down the throats of everyone else.
Also, very seriously, to all here. I can tell you that no woman, ever, has an abortion lightly. It is one of the most traumatic things that you can experience. Note, I have never had one, purely because I have been lucky in my circumstances. But as a mother of 4, I know.
It is an option of last, last, last resort. I am sure there are statistics on this, but I think abortions have moved from unwanted pregnancies – we are getting better as a society at helping young girls avoid these – to medical terminations where not wanting to carry a foetus to full term, who will rather die during the birth process, or shortly thereafter, with a short brutal, painful life.
This is one reason a Nationals(?) senator in NSW supported removing abortion from the criminal statutes, and was brave enough to talk about her own experience and trauma when termination was definitely the best option because of birth defects incompatible with life.
To reduce abortion levels – a good thing, because it is so traumatic – we need excellent birth control, and this includes things like the “Day after pill”, or pharmaceutical means of procuring abortions once a woman first realises she is pregnant, but before development has gone past the embryonic stage.
Hope this is not too graphic for you all. There is nothing interesting going on tonight in Sydney, so I am rambling a bit.
Very amusing, poroti.
I’ve been avoiding satire this afternoon….listening to B.B. King and doing some paintings….
Gratifying, but not funny…
well said D&M
Good evening all,
First up, I am pro abortion.
However, I am constantly gobsmacked at the arrogance and superiority complex of a number of posters here when it comes to social issues. All issues actually.
Everyone has a opinion., a point of view and or a belief. Just because they do not agree with you does not mean they are wrong. It just means they have a different opinion or point of view. Their beliefs are different. Not wrong. Just different. A number of people I know and respect do not support SSM. A number of people I know and respect do not support abortion. They are not red neck right wing idiots. They are ordinary people who have opinions different to mine. I respect that and I respect their right to express their opinions.
GG has every right to his opinions and every right to express them here.
I know GG is big enough and mean enough to look after himself. So, my post is not so much in defence of him even though I support his fight to hold a different opinion. It is just the superiority complex of some here that really gives me the shits. Some posters need to open their minds to the possibility that their opinions may not be fact but simply their personal opinion with which others may not agree.
Tolerance and respect for the opinions of others works both ways. Get down off your moral superiority hobby horse and accept that your opinion is simply that. Your opinion. Not fact, just opinion.
Anyway, time to go. Have a great night all and go for it GG !
Cheers.
nath
I know that you are here to troll which is why I never respond to your posts, but just this once I will respond.
1. None of us have the option of making perfect choices with respect to our vote. I certainly never have. We all have to accept compromises.
2. We all have to live in a nation whereby our quite fundamental beliefs are compromised. The Coalition prevents euthanasia. Both my parents died with much needless suffering as a result. My very strong pro-euthanasia sentiments have nowhere practical to go.
3. Parties representing around 95% of the vote support women having control over their bodies. If that leaves anti-abortion voters with nowhere to go that is the way our democracy works. Criticizing THEM for this state of affairs is just plain stupid.
4. When it comes to being ‘pathetic’, your posts are exemplars.

This is outrageous. GG has his beliefs…both religious and secular. He can express them both. He’s under no obligation to subordinate one set of beliefs to the other. He should not be accused of hypocrisy. We all have to live with our conscience. GG has shown us all many times that he has one. He should not be accountable to the malicious trolling of one who is quite likely oppposed to everything GG values.
D&M for the faithful the soul is formed at conception. Abortifacients including IUDs are still murder

Boerwar, so because GG can’t get his opinions politically expressed gives him the right to call women who have abortions baby murderers?

Yep. And it is rather typical of Christ’s teachings that he avoids addressing the obvious irreconcilables.
Thanks Nath!
It appears East’s are beating Storm, according to PB, so there is some interest being taken.
I hope East’s win, because one of my neighbours is an East’s tragic. She lives with her sister who is, obviously for round here, a South’s fan. They have a dog who wears Easts and Souths colours week about. As the South’s sister say to me about her East’s loving sister: ” Me mum must’ve dropped her on her head when she was born”.
And I am reliably informed by sports mad son that Storm is really QLD in disguise?
Are the Roosters the team that everyone loves to hate?
