Newspoll: 51-49 to Labor

Malcolm Turnbull’s hitherto surging personal ratings take a turn for the worse, as both sides lose ground on the primary vote and two-party preferred remains as was.

The latest Newspoll, courtesy of The Australian, is the fourth in a row to show Labor leading 51-49 on two-party preferred, from primary votes of Coalition 37% (down two), Labor 35% (down one), Greens 10% (steady) and One Nation 9% (up two). Malcolm Turnbull’s previously surging personal ratings have collapsed – he is down six on approval 36% and up seven on disapproval to 55%, and his lead over Bill Shorten as preferred prime minister has narrowed from 48-29 to 44-32. Bill Shorten is steady on 32% approval, and down one on disapproval to 56%.

Have some sympathy for Josh, he surely did not ask to be selected by PM Lucien Aye to be the sacrificial goat going under the bus.

  2. Amy shows why she’s worth feeding:

“The member for Watson must not have been listening very carefully [since I said it was] on 29 May, the foundation finalised the proposal. Mr Speaker, what is very clear, when we met on the 9 April, with the foundation, to solicit whether they were interested in …”

“The rest of the answer is the same as before, but Burke is looking very pleased indeed with that slip of ‘solicit’ from the minister’s tongue.”

  3. Would someone mention to Abbott that Oxygen is a dangerous gas outside its optimal range. Just like CO2

But then this lot always think that more was more. Live by the more, die by the more.

  4. .@Mark_Butler_MP: Is the PM aware @TonyAbbottMHR has ridiculed claims power prices will fall under the NEG.

@TurnbullMalcolm: The honorable member knows very well what happens when you allow ideology and idiocy to take charge of energy policy.

Has Malcy detonated yet? Is there a mushroom cloud over Parliament House?

Fizzers don’t produce mushroom clouds when they go off.

Just heard Greg Jennet fluff his lines. He called the GBRF a ‘small charity’. His bosses will not be happy. No doubt MT Vessel will complain.

Well it used to a small charity, up until the end of June at least.

I see there was mention of the money being paid in the 17/18 FY. That would make the 18/19 FY deficit appear smaller going into the next election.

  7. Apparently, the Senate has ordered the Government to provide all the modelling for the NEG by 9am tomorrow.

  8. Another review focused on ABC/SBS!

Local mayors say the Federal government should quit “racist fearmongering” as Melbourne’s South Sudanese community says it’s fed up with being “demonised”.

Sounds like the prelude before an election.

  11. Hopefully the ABC/SBS Review will be placed firmly into Michelle Rowland’s bottom drawer after the federal election.

  12. how are they going to explain handing over six years worth of grants in one lump sum?
    they’re not going to…

They are going to try to ride it out all the way to a new coal fired powerstation. The hubris is breathtaking.

  13. How can Malcolm possibly survive getting the govt to give $444 million to the mates of his wife. They wouldn’t even get away with that in Malaysia.

Someone earlier suggested the GBRF would fund the new coal-fired power station. At the time, I dismissed it as ridiculous. Now, I’m not so sure … 🙁

He was intimately involved in “due diligence”. Hence no sympathy. A person who hid behind his mother’s past regarding dual citizenship knows how to hide things and get away with that.

It makes perfect sense. The smoke from a coal fired power station sited near the reef would provide an umbrella effect keeping the reef waters cool!

Are we talking about poor lil’ refugee Josh LIEdenburg here ?????

  19. Microsoft has emailed me to say I have won 500,000 pounds sterling.

Perhaps I should forward the email to Malcolm to help him pay for the GBRF grant!

  20. Our perhaps the Chinese cousin Lucien Dai…

BTW, there was a very unpleasant fellow studying and living in the Foreign Student’s Building at Fudan University in Shanghai in the mid 1980s. German, six foot plus and blond, and a big follower of Nietzsche – need I go on??? Foreign students in China generally take a Chinese name, and he didn’t yet have one. A few of us unsuccessfully suggested that he adopt Wan Ke!

Bill Shorten had questions to answer.

  22. A undisclosed sauce has informed me that PM Lucian Dye is actually the Godfaher to his nephew Jobson.

He is related to the Growthe family.

How”s about our Korean cousin Lucien Lee ?

  25. My sister Derryss has a first name that’s so unusual she doesn’t need a middle name.

    And while I’m here…

Wouldn’t the Chinese cousin be Lu Xien Dai?
And the Deutsch cousin would be Lucien Dei. (Becuase “die” is pronounced “dee”. I was waiting for someone else to point this out, but obviously if you want something done, you have to do it yourself.)

  26. “A undisclosed souse has informed me that PM Lucian Dye is actually the Godfaher to his nephew Jobson.”

That same sauce/souse has also revealed that Donald Trump is the Godfather.
