BludgerTrack: 52.7-47.3 to Labor

Following Newspoll, the latest poll aggregate reading washes away the Coalition’s gains from the earlier polling since New Year.

This week’s Newspoll result had added 0.3% to Labor’s two-party reading on the BludgerTrack poll aggregate, and added one seat to their national on the seat projection, the gain being in South Australia. The biggest change on the primary vote is an improvement for One Nation, who reversed a weakening trend over the past few months with the latest poll. Newspoll also recorded a weakening in Malcolm Turnbull’s personal ratings, but evidently the aggregate had this priced in already, as the trend results show little changed on last week. As always, full results on the sidebar.

I don’t think so in the minds of the party – he was never allocated a ministerial role while the member for Orange before coming to federal parliament.

I will be interested to see how his vote goes in Calare next time around because judging by Facebook he would, to use a phrase I heard ungraciously applied to Gough Whitlam in later life, attend at the opening of a door.

  2. Shellbell:

I suppose one way of looking at is that your friend not being leadership material isn’t necessarily a slight on him, given the party he is a member of and his parliamentary colleagues.

What are the odds that a very young successful Russian woman in her own right, just happens to love guns and hitched her wagon to the GOP and the NRA.

  4. Whether BJoyce just resigns leadership or goes to backbench. Labor need to pursue all the questionable expenditures and policy decisions under BJoyces watch.

Neat! Hopefully the next thing to happen is that both women leave him and then the first woman takes the family home in the divorce and they both stick him with full legal custody of the kids (current and future). Then his self-inflicted humiliation will be complete.

If only it had happened to someone even more deserving, like Dutton, but that’s too much to ask.

And a very young former Siberian furniture shop owner! Normally these are the kinds of successful migrant stories Republicans love to trumpet and pose along side of.

Even Barnaby the dullard must realise he is finished. The MSM will relentlessly pursue this corrupt hay seed to the end of days. The 1400 presser will be his resignation speech before the shit really hits the fan….

And we can move on to the next L/NP MP, nearly as senior as Mr Joyce, who has been spending some of this free time in a way that his wife would not approve of…

  8. annajhenderson: Nationals in confusion, unclear what is happening. Calling journalists to confirm whether their leader is staying or going #auspol

  9. Oh please, let the AFR report on the resignation be wrong. Could just be Gov MPs ratcheting up the pressure.

I’d much prefer Barnaby to keep on digging in, at least until the next Newspoll.

  10. Vic

I assume its just the leadership. Going from parliament could see Labor referring LNP members to the High Court.

    Plus other voting wins.

    Barnaby’s personal leave so far:
    – three print interviews
    – two doorstops
    – one presser
    – one meeting with the PM
    – two written public statements
    – one branch meeting

  12. My (very optimistic prediction).

Resigning as leader of the Nats? Yes.
    Resigning from the Nats? Yes
    Resigning from HoR? No.

  13. So our Tones out and about commenting….again. 🙂

Reckons he “knows more about winning elections”….fine thats on the record.

Other thing that is on the record is that he knows nothing about policy and governance.

  14. Victoria

Yes. Rock hard place for Joyce. Why he has been hanging on so long to the leadership.

If Newscorpse continue after him when he is on the backbench then we will know Murdoch has decided Labor will win.

  15. PhRed @ #195 – yes, and Mueller has been very conscientious in sharing all the information he can with the state prosecutor. They would not have to start all over again from scratch but instead take up from where Mueller leaves off if he is sacked.

  16. Victoria

Agree about what Labor needs to do.

If Joyce was Murdoch target watch Murdoch press attack Labor for continuing to raise questions.

Headlines like kicking a man when he is down and the like

  17. Of course, if Barnaby leaves Parliament to work for Gina, we won’t get to know what she pays him because jobs from mates don’t need to be disclosed.

  18. Barnyard going to backbench, he has 8 mouths to feed and his exit strategy, a fat paying job with a fat mining mogul has been diminished due to his toxic last few weeks.

  19. I have been informed by a labor insider that if Barnaby stays or goes as the Nats leader, labor will put the blow torch on matters other than the money/ job matter for his girl friend in the next sitting week.

  20. Other thing that is on the record is that he knows nothing about policy and governance.

Governance and policy; schmolicy. Boring stuff only the chattering inner city left wing hand wringer latte sipper chardonnay swiller class softies care about.

  21. “annajhenderson: Nationals in confusion, unclear what is happening. Calling journalists to confirm whether their leader is staying or going #auspol”

You sometimes wonder whether these MSM ‘reports’ are planted to try and convince waverers to vote a certain way.

With Sky News and the DT having a Murdoch connection, a bit of shady dealing here is not impossible.

  22. Good question.

What was it all for? @Barnaby_Joyce set to quit today after dragging the government into crisis during a fortnight from hell.]

  23. Pissing away everyones superannuation on funding Trumps infrastructure plan is straight up insanity. The US economy is doomed. They won’t pay off their current debts for decades at best. Where is the logic in this completely idiotic plan? We shouldn’t foot the bill for a country that keeps giving tax cuts to the wealthy in the middle of a debt crisis.

  24. Victoria, Guytaur – agree totally.
It would seem there are some really shady deals that could continue to haunt Barnaby for quite some time to come. Could not happen to a nicer fellow.
If the ALP set up a Federal ICAC/NIC then maybe the first referral could be Barnaby; tit-for-tat Michaelia Cash referral of the AWU to the Registered Organisations Commission.

  25. I have two hens rearing chickens in a same sex relationship.

They sat on the same clutch of eggs, and now having hatched a grand total of 3 chicks are sharing the parenting.

    Can’t say we weren’t warned.

  26. I wonder whether a person can be convicted twice for the same conduct in the US – once in a Federal jurisdiction and then again in a State jurisdiction?

I doubt this would be possible in Australia. Do the rules of double jeopardy apply where a person has been pardoned?

  27. So Trump wants teachers to be armed so what type of “concealed carry” (his own words!) weapon would he recommend they carry to overcome someone spraying highly lethal rounds from an AR-15 from 20 metres away? Idiot!!!!
