Newspoll: 52-48 to Labor

The latest result from Newspoll lands slightly at the upper end of the government’s recent form.

Courtesy of The Australian, the latest result from Newspoll records Labor with a two-party lead of 52-48, down from 53-47 in the last poll (which was three weeks ago rather than the usual two, owing to Easter). Labor and the Greens are both down a point on the primary vote, to 35% and 9%, with the Coalition and One Nation steady on 36% and 10%. Malcolm Turnbull is up two on approval to 32% and down two on disapproval to 57%, while Bill Shorten is up one to 33% and down one to 53%. Turnbull’s lead as preferred prime minister shifts from 41-32 to 42-33.

  1. Bemused, I will decide what is trivial to me, you condescending dickhead. That retort #744 is the first remark in this non-conversation that you have addressed to me. You read my first comment, which was about cars, and contained an absolutely factual, correct statement about the location of my residence in geographical relation to Cat, and you decided to ridicule me to her, just like a 12 year old schoolgirl bully, based on your crass stupidity. Shun the outsider!

You lack empathy and self knowledge. An apology would have been appropriate, not more sad, futile bluster.

  2. The new Family First senator Lucy Gichuhi will not become a Family First senator nor will she be named an Australian Conservative Senator.

It’s believed Ms Gichuhi will take her place in the parliament as an Independent.

So, off to a cracking start.

  3. Damn! I was looking forward to the end of Bernardi come 2022. What are the chances of this happening with him merged with FF?

  4. So FF lose their name, and will now be branded Australian Conservatives? Talk about the rough end of the pineapple!

  5. Note, new replacement SA Senator for Bob day intends to sit as an INDEPENDENT, not with Cory in the new party, not as Family First.

Now that is the significant bit I think. Her vote might be much more contestable now on many issues.

You are so over the top you have become hilarious.
    Do calm down.

Many thanks for my second fix as in Sydney and in CBD did see some of March and saw a great Scottish band playing, they had on clan Stewart tartan

  8. bemused. Exactly like a schoolgirl bully. Your warped sense of humour finds your humiliation hilarious. So be it. A person with nil geographical sense believes that being condescending adds to their self image. You really are a piece of work, aren’t you?

I made an error so trivial I can’t whip up the kind of fervour you seem to be gripped by.
Many people on PB make such quips which most usually enjoy. On this occasion I made an error and it fell flat.
    Now get over it.

  11. Oh I know…
I humbly apologise for my inadequate knowledge of the extent to which the coastline between Woy Woy and Bateau Bay extends to the east. It is now remedied for which I am eternally grateful to you!
    Can normal service now resume?

  12. bemused. What specifically requires an apology?
Work it out, if you can. I suspect that you really can’t, and if you can’t, nothing that I could do will help you. Narcissism really is an ugly trait. I’m glad I don’t have to live with you, or interact with you.

I showed that I had an insufficient knowledge of the geography of your area. So what?
Get over it. I said nothing offensive.

  14. Family First has a history of collecting disaffected Liberals – Brokenshire and Day notably in SA. Its a bit different for a disaffected Liberal to collect Family First. I guess they are bankrupt and looking for sustenance since the Bob Day fiasco/s. FF been going nowhere but down in recent years. Only real base is the Assemblies of God church which could represent 1-2% of population. How will the happy clappers feel cosying up to Bernardi’s austere Catholicism?

So what is Bernardi’s source of funding? Gina and her ilk?

  16. Cory Nomates what a legend.

Organises a Party and no one comes.

Crashes someone else’s Party and everyone leaves.
    🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

  17. So now Bernardi has merged with FF, the next step is a merger with PHON and then the Liberals can merge with them…

And then the cycle will be complete.

  18. bemused, I thought so. You simply cannot recognise when you are being profoundly offensive. Narcissistic disorder. You actually showed a total ignorance of the meaning of compass references, and you referred directly to the geography of my and Cat’s area, in order big note yourself and to ridicule someone whom you do not know, who was posting a friendly comment about French cars, which Cat had expressed a fondness for.

I rest my case. Piss off!

You are obviously hypersensitive and prone to temper tantrums.
I think you are best ignored.

  20. Bernardi’s money comes mostly from fundies overseas, particularly in the US.

I have said before that his level of support is much larger than people realise. Come the next election, they will be very well-resourced, which will put the cat amongst the pigeons on the right-hand side of politics.

  21. Chinda – I think quite a few previous FF supporters and ground troops will find Bernardi hard to work with. Including the c 40% who preference Labor ahead of Liberals.

  22. So now Bernardi has merged with FF, the next step is a merger with PHON and then the Liberals can merge with them…

A bag of ferrets comes to mind.

  23. Mari

RE Rowe – Yes, the eternity of 100 days of Trump. I liken him to having a particularly demanding child, every day is an ordeal.

Hmm I know it’s only a grab but he sounds like he’d love to join them.

  25. He won’t be the only LNPer, Fess.

I suspect a number of the disaffected (and out of favour) in the religious LNP RW are watching closely. Anyone feeling they have nothing to lose may well jump.

  26. I add also that they may also hoover up stray/disaffected PHONs, too.

Like I said, there’s some serious money behind them, and the non-threatening name – Australian Comservatives – will also appeal to those who feel the Liberal Party no longer represents their interests.

  27. [ Hmm I know it’s only a grab but he sounds like he’d love to join them. ]

Would be good to see. Get all the nut cases in one bag.
