Western Australian election live

A thread for discussion of the Western Australian election count.

And they’re off. Polls have closed, and the first results should be in in half an hour or so. I’ll be part of ABC Radio’s coverage, which you can hear on local radio in Western Australia and around the country on News Radio. Here’s a thread for you all to discuss the action as it occurs.

  1. Sprocket – I can’t believe they let you watch half a sporting event and then pulled the plug. That’s disgusting. It’s UNaustralian.

  2. greens may win Nedlands via Labor preferneces?

If it happens (big if), it will be a big question mark over the Lib-PHON preference deal,

  3. Richo’s mortgage is the kind you have when you live in Dover Heights (near Bondi) and have been around again kids-wise.

  4. Anton, it wasn’t that blatant. But the ‘free for Telstra customers’ subscriptions for the AFL and NRL have major shortcomings, like finishing the coverage tonight at the 48 minute mark or showing the AFL picture in half the screen. Trying to shepherd people into the Foxtel Play service.

  5. Michael Keenan distancing himself and the WA Liberal Party at a million miles an hour now that it has all turned to merde.

The ABC is reporting that it’s been banned from the #WAvotes One Nation election party. If true, this will backfire on them spectacularly!

  7. Swan Hills. Reminds me of the last time Labor won govt from opposition and it was a young woman who won the seat for Labor off a Liberal old man.

  8. Bit bothered that the ABC website already lump together the Libs and Nat votes together when there’s no guarantee they’re in a coalition in WA.

  9. The journalist interviewing Senator Dean Smith should have asked him what happened to Pauline Hanson’s party being more ‘sophisticated’ now? He was trying to suggest that she was back in the wacky basket. 🙂
