Interesting you said that comment, cos I asked my insider in the ALP WA Branch if they read the blogs, and said that they do read Blogs such as Poll Bludger, but not constantly.
Christmas nightmare: banks to up rates again
http://www.smh.com.au/news/business/new-mortgage-rate-rise-shock/2007/11/09/1194329464130.html
“The cost of home loans is set to rise by a further 0.25 per cent in the next month or two over and above the latest increase that is now being pushed through by the major banks after the Reserve Bank lifted official cash rates this week.”
oh dear, oh dear – time to start apolosising again Johny… I mean saying sorry… I mean say that you regret… I mean… oh forget it…
ShowsOn you don’t know the particulars so why go off on a tangent?
[ShowsOn, there is literally an ARMY of people on this blog (and others) that the Labor party could take advantage of – we are all very switched on here and could react instantly to help with their campaign efforts. Agree with you on this opportunity (and many others). I hope Labor staffers are reading….]
Another example is the fact Costello told a radio announcer off-air that interest rates wouldn’t rise in November. The Garrett story took up 2 days of campaigning, but the Costello version died in 15 minutes.
Labor should’ve made that mistake pay.
The U.S. political campaigns are so far ahead of us. ANY mistake by an opponent is punished. We are in about 1988 compared to U.S. politics.
good question betamax – there used to be lots of issues that were on the other side of the line that politicians just didn’t cross. immigration, refugees, all that stuff.
capital punishment is probably the last thing left that the major political parties just don’t seek to exploit for votes.
i suspect the media would crucify them for it.
500 [can anyone tell me why the Rattus is anti-capital punishment?]
Scared of war crime commissions I’d say.
What brand of coppers were they – garden-variety state or Feds?
[ShowsOn you don’t know the particulars so why go off on a tangent?]
You don’t know the particulars, so why do you write rubbish replies to my posts?
That bloke wouldn’t shake ratty’s paw
Could end up in strife with the law
It has been reported

Just like how the neoconservatives were saying, the government probably has evidence that hasn’t been shown.
Why are neoconservatives so keen to place their trust in a government that is untrustworthy and suspend civil liberties.
Re George 495,
You would certainly hope that Labor staffers are watching this blog and several other about the place. Their campaign team has not exactly been the most responsive of late. I mean, they’ve just stood by and watched while Howard and Costello have pulled out the big stick on interest rates.
Another blog I hope Kevin’s team is watching is the Piping Shrike. This blog is great for banter between election tragics, but the Piping Shrike is the best for deep thinking on the campaign philosophy IMHO.
Michael 499
So what you are saying is that there is no more votes up for grabs (everyone has made up there minds). Well why don’t we bring the Election forward to tomorrow then, why is Rudd and Howard bothering to campaign then.
Check out this top article, assuming it hasn’t already been posted. PB, Possum, Simon et al get a good mention and it pans the GG:

new thread up
ShowsOn,
thank god we are not at the level of yankee politics.
this bullshit about jumping on every mistake a poli makes turns elections into Seinfeld elections like we have now.
Does anyone know of any Coalition-friendly blogs? It would be interesting to drop in an be a fly on the wall and see what the discussion is about.
516 No they have all abandoned ship.
Great article link Burgey
Micheal Kroger is morphing into Ray Martin more and more each year..
Good news on Morgan, sure it’s only morgan and withing MOE but it’s holding/up.

ShowsOn I was referring to the Melbourne in Burma comment maybe the bloke said something that made him the interest of police. Not shaking Howards hand big deal. I’m sure it hapens all the time.
Asanque what evidence?
chatting to the girls at play group this morning , memtioned howard’s sorry not an apology , one girl fired up , he’s lost me ,was not happy with howard’s comment
i wonder how many other liberal, swinger voter’s howard lost with his sorry is not an apology ( certainly humbles garret’s gaff in terms of swinging votes)
[ShowsOn I was referring to the Melbourne in Burma comment maybe the bloke said something that made him the interest of police. Not shaking Howards hand big deal. I’m sure it hapens all the time.]
So you want to live in a country where police censor everything people say.
Get real mate.
Liberal keeps women barefoot, pregnant, dumb and in the kitchen.
Labor promotes women as equal to men and gives them opportunities.
With thanks to John of Melbourne (I’m sure the only time I’ll say that).
Poll is released
small sample size
*sigh*, within moe
ShowsOn did you wake up from the wrong side of the bed this morning?
I’m not having a go at you, I just wrote what I thought.
“So you want to live in a country where police censor everything people say.”
Heaven NO! I would like to see a Bill of Rights.
I want to see a Royal Commission set up in Victoria to investigate Police corruption.

Middle man @ 342 – I can relate…I had to spend the 2004 in a room full of Liberal voters at a quiz night of all things at a toffy nosed private boys school in Adelaide…(it was for the Make a Wish Foundation -so a good cause) except i should have stayed at home too – what a disaster of a night that was. The Quiz Master – a well known TV “personailty” in Adelaide – kept bloody giving us a friggin lost seat count for Labor – I wanted to deck her. It was hideous. I was drunk before Round 3 of questions was complete.
Needless to say this time around I am surrounding myself with my like minded friends and having a party at least if Labor doesn’t win I will be with other mourners. No-one should be alone on election night!..especially alone, drunk and surrounded by Liberal voters. I thought I had gone to hell.
Anyone on the mid-north coast of NSW looking for a laugh tomorrow (Saturday 10th) night head for “John Howard on Trial” at Brindabella in Kempsey at 7pm.
As a taste, here are some rhymes from the prosecution’s summing up:
There are excerpts form an earlier trial in Bellingen here:http://youtube.com/watch?v=Eyb_62YzIBY

> So a shrill shrew cheerleader?
No, a silly shrill shrewish shill.
Mr Denmore
It needs to be noted that thay are talking about size of swing (snigger snigger) in that article. They mention that Labor is still ahead in the over 55’s but the swing isnt as big.
That’s how I read it.
As a long time lurker I just have one question when is Labor finally going over to the offensive on this despicable government? We need a landslide to finally put in place some progressive policies!
In regard to the Daily Telegraph, I beg to differ. The headline, and indeed the accompanying story on pages 6-7 today really lay the slipper into John Howard. Could it be that Rupert has decided there is going to be a chango of government? I know the Australian (aka the Government Gazette) is still helping them along, but let’s face it, Mr & Mrs Mortgagebelt don’t read that highbrow claptrap.
I don’t think it’s best to ignore the ‘gay’ thing at all — I’d rather see the Tele shamed. I’m particularly pissed off by this.
I rang the tele and asked them to remove it by 11 or I’d make a complaint to the APC. Empty threat, but I’m bored, stubborn and irritable. And any excuse to procrastinate!
middle man – i can see what you mean. but i’m a poof
Middle man @ 357
scapers got this “project” thingy that will basically save Oz and make everything ok for everybody. It’s the great southern cross project or something like that. He’s a Landscaper from Qld and he’s got this idea about central Oz that he’s pretty keen on. (Who knows, maybe it will be great, maybe he’s deluded I have NFI.)
He’s always running around blogs alluding to it and dropping names here and there like, “spoke with Garrett last night, good chat about project business” type statements.
Who knows? 😉
But if he was a poll we’d all be pretty doubtful about the validity lol 🙂
Liberal is for fascism and the priveleged few.
Labor is for inclusion and everyone.
Seems we have 2 Will’s on here. I’m the one from Kooyong. Anyway, the other seems to be on the side of good. From now on, I will be known as Will From Kooyong.

Suspicion of:
(a) Sedition
(b) Visa overstay
(c) Homosexual association with Kevin Rudd
(d) Linguistic contortionism involving the words ‘sorry’, ‘apology’, ‘core’, ‘non-core’, ‘aggregate’ and ‘impression’
(e) Thinking in sentences
(f) Not wearing a collared shirt or boat shoes or parting his hair or making any effort to assimilate with mainstream Australian traditions and values (see (a))
Rudd Should just completely ignore latham and not give him the time of day. Soon he will be a pathetic and absolutely forgotten political figure
Good if you’ve got a house I guess.
So is home-ownership increasing or decreasing?

Actually, Ralph, I suspect that this is the most Coalition friendly site on the internet. The bloggers here tolerate the likes of Glen, S.Kaye ,ESJ, JoM, etc with considerable good grace.
Cheers Fulvio. I think the differing opinions add richness to debate. 🙂
Just done a comment moderation cleanout. Apologies for any delays.
